Easiest way to compile inventory and compare moving quotes. The description for each step of the moving process and what was required was clear and easy to follow.

UNPAKT IS PAID DIRECTLY FOR THE MOVE FROM THE CUSTOMER AND THE ACTUAL CARRIER WHO COMPLETES THE MOVE HAS TO WAIT MONTHS TO BE PAID FROM UNPAKT. WHEN YOU CALL ABOUT YOUR MONEY THEY JUST SAY SEND THEM AN EMIL. AFTER 5 EMAILS I HAVE YET TO GET A RESPONSE AND STILL WAITING TO BE PAID!

I'll be honest...I'm fully supportive of having a middle company guarantee the price of your move (especially if you are going cross country). I've only moved cross-country once but the lack of a transparent pricing structure is unreal and SO costly. There is room for growth in this industry and I'm glad someone is working to improve that process. That being said, the customer service at Unpakt is HORRENDOUS. I highly suggest you make sure you have all your moving inventory is added the first time (or else you will need to re-approve billing as the prices change). This makes for a very unclear process as to when the move actually gets charged to your account. I understand why my move got canceled but the mere fact that the woman on the other end was so horrendous and unapologetic about the cancellation - I'd probably not recommend this until they get their "you know what" together. Be nice to people when they are moving because its a headache. At the end of the day you are in the service industry and positive attitudes go a long way.

Very easy to use interface and clear where the costs were coming from. Choice of movers was great. Fact that you could change stuff even during the move (movers verified the list was approximately the same as online) is great. Only thing is it was a bit more pricey than I could get elsewhere. In the end I was happy to use Unpakt because of everything else above. Worth the money.

Bait and switched the pricing (added more after they had picked up my stuff). I specifically told them they did not have authorization to charge my credit card, they did it anyway. Unethical company. Stay away.

Fraudulent service! I am in the middle of cross country move right now, and Unpakt is completely unresponsive regarding the failed service. I was sold a moving service through Federal Moving, who guaranteed a specific delivery window. I flew across the country to meet the movers to find out that they are a last week late. I called Unpakt, who committed to research and resolve the issue, but now they have been unresponsive for 2 days. Neither Unpakt or Federal Moving should be in business.

Tedious process but worthwhile if you are budget-conscious I've moved A LOT in the past decade, and moving has always been a pain. Movers I've used seem like they've straight up made up the prices. Costs per hour, tolls, amount of furniture, blah blah blah... all of which add up to whatever movers feel like charging that day. You can never get a REAL price. Unpakt removed all that guessing from the game (I'm sure movers aren't too excited about this). They have EXACT prices based on exactly the items you own AND NOTHING ELSE. Sure it was super tedious listing all the furniture and boxes I was moving, but at the end of the day, I liked knowing that moving one chair cost exactly X amount of dollars. It actually helped me purge my furniture and belongings. (e.g. I don't want to spend $8.50 to move this lamp, so I'm just throwing/donating this). I also really liked that they updated your costs based on your inventory. I ended moving less boxes that I originally claimed on their site (spring cleaning!), so I was reimbursed the difference. Overall, a great service for fastidious people. No guesswork. --
