BOOK IT!!

I had never been on an EF tour before let alone traveled by myself so I was extremely nervous but this was truly the BEST experience of my entire life! Most of our accommodations were fairly close to or in the city center which I was worried about from other reviews! There was only one or two accommodations I would have changed which EF seems to be good about changing based on previous reviews. The trip is very go go go as it has to be to see that many places but I packed a big checked bag, duffle bag, and a backpack and I really didn’t mind the walks to the hostels! I met the best people on this trip and our tour director Vasi was the best!!!! This trip is truly a once in a lifetime experience I got to see SO MANY cool and unique places that otherwise probably would’ve taken me years to see! I highly recommend this tour idk how any of my future tours are going to live up to this one!

3rd trip with EF and they have not disappointed yet!

10 days and 5 countries is a hard deal to beat! This trip was definitely a great way to check out some pretty major and amazing cities in a short amount of time. It’s pretty fast paced but personally it was so worth it! And since EF takes care of every thing, I just got to follow along and enjoy the ride. And while it is quick, I felt like the itinerary gave me just enough time to get a taste of each city and still plenty of free time to do the main things I wanted to do while we were there. Ingo, our tour director, was THE BEST!! He gave us so many great local and favorite suggestions for food and activities. It really allowed us to make the most of our time in each city. You can tell he really has a passion for travel and cares about the wellbeing of everyone in his group. I was happily exhausted by the end of each day and woke up reenergized and eager to explore even more!

Do NOT book if you are disabled!!

I would like to give 0 stars, but I guess I can’t. I booked a trip for the Highlights of Japan for May back in August of last year as a person with Cerebral Palsy. I use an electric scooter for long distances and a posterior walker. I tried to reach out to the company in August of 2022 to communicate about my accessibility concerns and never heard back from anyone. My friend was an ambassador and tried to reassure me that they would get back, she even reached out herself. I tried to communicate again in January, February and March via phone and email and didn’t get any response. Finally I talked to the supposed disability liaison. She tried to talk me out of the trip, telling me it probably wouldn’t be possible, even asking if my scooter would be able to charge in Japan?? What in the world?? She did not provide any useful information or reassurance and caused my anxiety to skyrocket, so with the lack of confidence in the company I stated I wanted to cancel the trip. This was back in April, the trip has passed and I have not received ANY funds or further communication from them and I spent 3,928 dollars total for this trip that I planned for and did not get to go on! Please listen to this warning! Do not book with this company if you are concerned about accessibility. My plan now is to spread this as far as I can and push forward with a lawyer to get my money back.

Terrible company

Terrible company, full of scams. They know exactly what to do to get your money. They don't care about customer service, life long customers, or treating you as human. They're only concerned with profiting and making money.

Travel well, travel often; with EF!

I first encountered EF in 2016 when I was looking to expand my Europe experience via group travel. I had originally heard of a competitor but upon research and a wonderful customer service platform, EF was a no brainer. 9 trips later (going on 11!) I can say without a doubt it is one of the best decisions of my life. Everything is accounted for with itineraries and leaving the traveler with little to plan, while also having the free time opportunities to go beyond guided tours. Some of my closest friends are through my trips and I’m forever grateful. Cannot recommend enough for all that it’s given me.

Boat trips are the best!

Heather was the best tour director. I enjoyed her recommendations from food, to gelato, to ATMs, to best photo spots. The food on the boat was amazing, the crew was so kind and fun. The boat felt like home. The water was perfect. The pace of this trip felt easy and relaxed. I didn’t realize how much other people would go out at night, I never did and that was okay too! I would do this trip again. Boats are the way to travel!

Trip of a Lifetime !!

The tour director, Jenci, was super super organized and encouraged us to go off and explore or hangout with him as he went to his fav local spots. He made sure to always check in on us and make sure we were enjoying every minute and if we weren't he would help us find something or somewhere to go! EF also dealt with a bullying incident on my trip and went to ALL ends to make sure that I knew they had my back. The hostels were all amazing, especially the generator, Meininger and Jo&Joe! I loved having the freedom to pick a new room or roommates for each new hostel, or stick with my new besties.

Would not recommend

This past May, myself and 8 other friends booked a trip to Europe through EF. We had a great travel consultant who was available to us almost always via text, call, or email if we had any questions. The day of departure, we found that our flights had been either booked incorrectly, or transferred incorrectly between airlines. After spending 5+ hours in the airport check in area, our only option was to fly to another country where we would have a 24hr layover, then fly to our original destination. This option had us missing almost the entire first stop/2 days of our trip. Not only were we told by EF that this was an “amazing option” and that “the first day doesn’t count” (we had paid for things on the first day that we would now miss), we were also told once we landed we were responsible for finding our own way to the hotel and to catch up with our group. Now that we’re back from the trip, I have been in contact with 1 senior travel consultant who told us that to receive any compensation for the 2 days we missed, we would have to fill out a travel insurance claim. I was told I would not need documentation from the airline of the change of flight since EF was aware and had an “investigation open.” That was not true. I filed a claim and was told I need proof. Since I filed the claim, I have essentially been ghosted by EF. They have not been of any assistance once we had issues with the trip. I would not recommend booking with them.

NINE TRIPS?!?

After 9 trips with EFUB, I’ve seen trips go to the itinerary graveyard, I’ve seen new ones born, and I’ve seen old ones re-emerge. Most recently, I traveled on Denmark, Sweden, and Norway with EFUB and this was my second time on this trip. They’ve implemented some great changes, which not to toot my own horn, but this is the main change I suggested after my first time on this trip in 2018 — and it made a world of difference. I love to see that they’re taking customers feedback to heart and making those changes. After 9 trips, I think it’s pretty clear that I’m a loyal customer, but I certainly wouldn’t be doing 9+ trips if I wasn’t pleased with these trips. Each one has been so unique, and even though I do have favorites, I don’t think I’ve ever had a “bad” trip at all. I have a few more in the books for the next year, and at this point, I’m just waiting to see what other new locations they may pop up with next! They have a brand new Sicily & Malta trip that I had to jump on right away, so now I’m just hoping for something new in Asia!

SoSo

I think the company offers amazing trips and opportunities for those traveling alone. I think they could work on being more transparent on what's included in certain cities; Barcelona Sagrada Familia and Rome Colosseum. Tour directors also really impact the experience.
