I received prompt payment from them when my cat Alma was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I requested a claim form when her condition suddenly deteriorated so I could have her put to sleep. I was told by the agent I spoke to at the time, and she told me that they would take the remaining policy payments off the cost of having her put to sleep. However, she passed away before I could have her put to sleep. I spoke to another agent after Alma died and she cancelled the policy straight away. I am glad that not all agents are as heartless as the first agent I spoke to.

Having insured my dog with healthy pets since 2016 and paid extra for the gold level to ensure my dog had good cover, I was appalled the companys behavior after making my first claim. My dog, at nearly 12 years old suddenly got ill and upon taking him to the vets, he underwent a scan which showed he had cancer in many places and he was put down that day. I put in my first ever claim (£1200) and was awarded £183.88 as the company decided to claim back nearly £600 for the monthly premiums I would have paid had he lived, as well as the £125 excess and additional 15% excess because of his age. Given that I was paying £62 a month, im £2.12 worse off than if id had no insurance at all which cant be right. Their policy states that they reserve the right deduct unpaid premiums not that they will do so. As a customer for many years I wasnt expecting this to happen. Other review sites suggest that this is healthy pets general practice. Therefore i suggest you insure your older pet elsewhere REPLY to Response The policy number was 0428/169050. Good value for money for level of cover
We had to claim for our young dog for the first time just over a year ago and they paid out without too much hassle. It's unfortunate that they're not quick payers, therefore our vets does not accept direct payment so we had to claim back after paying the bill. They continue to be the best value for money for both our senior cat and dog so it's unlikely we will change insurers any time soon.
