Think Hard and do your research things are not always what its made out to be

Were do I start A little history first I have been involved in Radio since the mid 80's after a long break I got the oppertunity To play on Club Ready Radio with 60 plus other DJs the entire system was based on the Radio.co software and services and BUTT, In testing everything seemed fine there were transition issues DJ to DJ and we had to incorperate a workaround with drops between DJ's and the odd drop out which we put down to DJ net connections, after a while the stability we had seemed to dissapear constant drop outs which in all fairness kills the listener experience listeners move on and its hard to get them back, we investigated all avenues so whats changed? well from our end the bottom line is nothings changed, for a while we blamed BUTT as there were a couple of new releases it turns out that was unfair and BUTT wasnt the issue and BUTT is rock solid, this very same problem was replicated on Broadcaster all of a sudden a common denominator is starting to appear, lots of investigations and lots of blame on the DJs well our DJs are part time they consist of IT technicians, programmers and also a couple of network engineers, oh and a Microsoft Beta Tester all of which were racking thier brains as to the issues we were up against. we gradually droped the service from 320kbps down to the absolute minimum and still sufferred constant drop outs, we insisted all our DJs connect only via a hardwaired internet connection we still had failures we run a spreadsheet and collected the date from every single DJ regarding setups most have high speed connections a lot have dedicated PCs for radio and rekordbox and still the drop outs continued, if you cant keep online on a 500/50 and an i9 with 32 gig of Ram something is wrong, my thoughts on this are simple and this is my honest opinion the test server is great gets you hooked no issues initially, once your in and signed up got all your apps working things get throttled down and there just isnt enough bandwidth provided to supply a stable service. I may well be wrong but to blame the DJ's and we have 60 plus, especially when we have so many tech guys within the team is just ridiculous, there is so much knowledge within the group yet we cannot find an answer and quite frankly we have been led up the garden path test after test and failure after failure, over the last couple of weeks we decided to drop out of the Radio.co service and go with Citrus which is a shame as Radio.co do have an all singing all dancing back end but we want the singing to come out of a set of speakers, we have only experienced 1 drop so far and that was an internet connection issue for a fraction of a second and due to the DJs remote location, the sound quality is far superior too which makes me feel the transcoders were maybe shrinking the end product down far too much, volume levels are probably 60% higher and matching that of other music sources the quality in 320 is amazing good sound seperation sharp highs and booming lows and quite frankly how it should have been from day 1, at last we can get on with building our station back up. To summarise im just going to drop a Public Enemy song title Don't Believe the Hype!!! Paul Law POPS Edit Reply to your reply Whilst I apreciate you are frustrated with the negative comments from the DJs of the station, you seem to forget you have a duty of care to your clients, we have been in contact the entire duration regarding the problems a full log of all the complaints and replies has been kept and it doesnt make for pretty reading, We as a group are also frustrated that we signed up to Radio.co and after 7 years of development they still cannot provide a service that works, The cost to us 'Club Ready Radio' has been quite heavy the cost to move to a provider that can supply the service designing and paying for new apps the loss of advertising revenue has come to a good amount. Then there is the potential loss of artist signings working closely with the music industry and promoting our work through the station is how we move forward having an unstable product to showcase on is about as useful as a chocolate teapot so forgive me if im dissapointed we have wasted 4 months and a fair amount of money in the process.

Radio.co? No!

With our radio station we, almost all connected DJs, have had various problems with connections (dropping out) as well as poor sound (different quality at the same settings and stuttering). With the exception of a few where the internet went down due to external circumstances, we all have stable wired internet connections or extremely good wifi (like myself 400-500kbs). Radio.co didn't fix the issues and the service wasn't exactly top notch. And that while we also had the most expensive subscription. In fact, we were always told that it was because of us... In the meantime we have taken on another provider, have done various tests (as with radio.co) with the same connection program BUTT... That worked very fine and total problem free with ditto support. So how was it up to us? We have now switched from Radio.co to that other provider! A perfect match! Save your time and money, there are better alternatives out there! Reaction on Radio.co reaction 8jun: First off all, its not Dave's station but a cooporation of over 60 DJ's that invested in this project with money and time. About unfair....? What about all things you couldn't solve, and then blaming us for it! While we found some solutions at the first place to get things done! So thats not only Dave or me, but 60 DJ's who were screwed over so probably there will be 58 reviews coming up later.

The worst service ever experienced!!

So where do i start!! from the beginning i guess, and just know that this review is designed to save you time effort and money in the long run by not using this absolutely awful service. So much like yourself your probably reading these reviews because you want to start a radio station, and probably like me you were wowed by great youtube videos from radio.co and James Mulvany. They are good arnt they!! well i can tell you that is where the good stuff stops!! To be fair the radio.co user interface is fabulous and whilst we were not live to start with everything seemed good but the radio.co lies were soon exposed. On our launch night we quickly realised that radio.co wont be able to do live dj to dj handovers, the system glitches, now we tried allsorts and radio.co said it was us and i had a call with Reece who told me they had never experienced this before ever, i have it on recorded video and you will see where this is going soon. he said he sent it to the developers to look at it as he couldnt understand what was happening, he said it was a 2 week fix, time passed and i spoke to James and Pete about this and they just fobbed me off time after time, lie after lie. We had to find our own fix for this and ended up putting a 1 minute jingle inbetween to stop the glitch which was not ideal but radio.co refused to help. Then over the last month our audio just kept losing connection, again we were blamed for our poor internet connections, all 60 of us had bad internet!!! we had wired 500mb speeds ha ha i dont think so guys, but they blamed us time after time and refused to fix the issue. This is when i had another video call with Reece and where the penny dropped as he admitted on camera that our last issue was logged in November 2 months before we joined!! the lie was exposed. Anyway after they blamed us we decided to try our luck with another company and i wont name them as this isnt a sales review!! anyway our connections were perfect so it was plainly obvious that Radio.co cannot handle the audio and connections they promise. They lie and lie to get themselves out of any blame and if you want to see for yourself get in touch with me as i have everything documented. We paid the top tier so £140 a month and they just didnt care about us and didnt want to accept responsibility for their failings. Do yourself a favour and save your time and money and look for other options rather than Radio.co because they will lie through their teeth to get your money. There are many alternatives out there guys, this is a failing company that cant do the basics of online radio!!!

Terrible Support to existing clients

It seems the only way to get a response out of Radio.co is to put reviews on 3rd party systems about them. They fail to respond to ANY support messages with anything but overseas operatives typing "I'll get technical to come back to you" and they don't. As others have written they started off well and are now pathetic and losing ground to MANY competitor firms sadly. Hope James gets to read this. Unhappy Update: after waiting for over 2 days for a support response from Radio.co and after being clients of Wavestreaming and Radio.co for over 9 years - post a negative Trustpilot and you get a response in minutes. Absolutely pathetic service when needed - having been in radio for 40 years now I'd avoid this company until they stop using overseas support members who do absolutely nothing. A bad move to not self support your company from the West!

Radio.co is amazing.

Overall radio.co is amazing for small, medium to very large stations. It has so many amazing features that make life so easy. Playlists are so easy to create when using the tag system. When up upload music create a tag so for example music, advert, jingle and just add these tags to a playlist and wham bam you're good to go. It's will select a random track from those tags and you're playlist is sorted. Scheduling is also so easy, greate a schedule, allocate start and finish time, select whether live dj or add a recorded show. Then select how long you'd like the schedule to go for, this could be years in advance and you're good to go. If you play out a recorded show all you do is change the show and press save. It really is that easy. There are just a few minor things that would make it totally out of this world. More of a selection of radio players would be good. At the moment there is just small, medium and large with a single player icon for each. A variety would he really good. The other thing I found an issue with was setting up the apps. It's very complicated and the instructions are not very plain or easy to understand. If you are not very technical in this area you will really struggle with it. I did reach out to them and to be fair they did help with a most difficult part which was getting the app bungle onto the app console. I really was pulling my hair out over that one. They are the only things that need looking at and making easier. Apart from that it's an amazing bit of software and I'd certainly recommend it to any station of any size. Just more player embeds and make the apps easier and it would be out of this world.

Amazing Support

Love the ease with which I could set up my station, easy to broadcast live, and upload media. Tags are a great help for sorting things out such as jingles, sweepers, and tracks into decades or genre, but what I think is really the best part is the amazing support the team provides, answering questions that come up when you're starting out on your own station, they're always available and happy to help with anything you ask about the software or station set up. I was involved on the presenting side of a local radio station on FM back in the 90s and it's amazing to see how far its come since those days
