This was, without a doubt, the worst moving experience I’ve ever had. The company was hired through a third-party broker, and what was initially quoted as a $4,000 move quickly ballooned to $7,000 due to their blatant overestimation of cubic footage. My 650 sq. ft. one-bedroom apartment simply did not take up the 1,000 cubic feet they claimed—especially when my belongings were crammed into half of a Penske truck along with another customer’s load. Realistically, my portion was likely around 850 cubic feet at most, but they refused to adjust the price. Communication was an absolute nightmare. They were difficult to reach, and on top of that, they only accepted cash or Zelle, which felt incredibly sketchy. When my belongings finally arrived, I discovered that they had broken my TV—the same TV they packed themselves. To make matters worse, when they came to pick up my things, one of the movers wouldn’t leave my apartment until I left a review on the spot. This company made moving ten times more stressful than it needed to be. If I had done more research beforehand, I would have read up on my rights as a consumer (FMCSA Moving Rights & Responsibilities) and never gone with them in the first place. Do yourself a favor—avoid shady third-party movers like this. Instead, consider using a POD company and hiring local movers to load/unload your stuff. You’ll save yourself a lot of money and headaches.
