Let’s start at the beginning. Mohammed was incredibly responsive from the get-go, crafting an itinerary that was shared with us in advance and tailored to our wishes. The accommodations at the Riad and Dars were exceptional. The booking process was seamless, with options for wire transfer and credit card payments (note: a surcharge applies for credit cards). Our driver and guide, Hakim, was nothing short of fantastic. He’s an excellent driver and a wellspring of knowledge about the intertwined histories of Morocco, Spain, and France—speaking all three languages, plus English. We recommend carrying cash (MAD), as currency exchange is available outside the airport or via ATMs, though there’s a surcharge. One of the highlights was in the desert, where Hakim’s Berber spirit shone as he joined a band of musicians, delighting us with lively music under a star-studded, moonless night sky. As a native of Dades, Hakim shared his deep affection for his hometown, one of Morocco's most beautiful regions. On his recommendation, we indulged in a Hammam on our final day, a perfect end to our journey.
