I tried to find a large van for 3 days with max B1-licence payload for moving engineering tooling & machinery to the other end of the UK. First Self Drive were one of only 2 companies in my area that had what I needed. Recommended by another hire company, believe it or not. All booking done online. Three drivers all able to turn up in person a few days ahead to verify documentation, which meant no last-minute glitches on pick-up day- in and out in minutes after handover. Vehicle performed excellently over 1000 miles and return paperwork was done in under 5 mins., including refund of deposit. Staff helpful, professional and friendly throughout. No corporate clap-trap or any hint of Arthur Daley- a refreshingly straightforward firm to deal with.

My auntie booked the van for me and when we went to pick it up the staff were very helpful and made sure that we were happy with the van and satisfied with all the buttons before we drove off. I woukd recommend these to my friends.

My husband and I landed at Heathrow, where we had hired a car with Eurocar, our son had paid for the trip, and they did not take his payment into account, saying it could be a fraudulent. They wanted full payment for our time there, which we could not pay. We took the vehicle for one day, so as to get to Norwich, where we took it back to them the following day, they charged us more money. We them went to First Self Drive in Norwich, where we have hired cars now for the last three years, they were able to help us with a vehicle, as we are both pensioners, they allow us to pay weekly. We had the vehicle within ten minutes of arriving in the office, which was 5.20 pm. We shall always now use them, as I have never want to fly into Heathrow again.

Friendly and helpful team. Would recommend as all the other big name hirers were unhelpful and snooty. First Self Drive were really down to earth.
