Absolutely amazing experience!

Everything about the trip was amazind. Our guide, Franco, was the best guide we have ever had. So full of information, so personable. He really made the trip for us. The drivers were each wonderful too. All of the arrangements and reservations were first class- hotels, restaurants, trains, tickets. Everything was well thought out and handled. It was an unforgettable trip/ experience. We would highly recommend Andean Discovery and especially our guide, Franco.

From the time our tour guide and driver…

From the time our tour guide and driver picked us up at the airport to the time they dropped us off at the airport they took such great care of our group of two families. Both families had different needs- some vegetarian some not and sometimes wanted to different things at different paces. It did not matter. The tour guide and driver got to know us quickly and made adaptations sometimes on the fly. THEY COULD NOT HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB. It was a trip of a lifetime. We flew into Quito and traveled to the highlands and stayed at a Hacienda that I will dream about for the rest of my life. Then we went to a cloud forest restaurant and hiked to a volcano. We then flew to Baltra and then took boats to the Islands and saw wonders of the world. I traveled with my kids ages, 11 and 12 and my 74 year old mom and my friend and her mother and 2 kids the same age as my kids.

Andean Discovery really created an…

Andean Discovery really created an amazing experience for us. They customized the trip to fit our needs and had every moment of our itinerary well coordinated. They set us up with fantastic guides that helped us every step of the way. The Napo Wildlife Center was incredible. The people were very friendly and helpful and our guides were the best. And the wildlife was awesome. During one of our canoe trips, we were fortunate to see a troop of about 30 squirrel monkeys jumping across the creek over our heads from one tree to another. Once in a lifetime experience. The Galapagos Legend was a great way to see the islands. We snorkeled with penguins, dozens of types of fish, and, the highlight, I was face to face with a baby sea lion for a good 10 seconds before it swam away to play with the other 4 baby sea lions. If you like birds and iguanas, there's plenty to see. Our trip through Peru was outstanding. We ate incredible local foods and stayed in places that far exceeded our expectations. Machu Picchu was out of this world, especially the hike up Huayna Picchu. Our guide, Franco, was with us the whole time and really made the trip! Early on in our trip, I left a very special hat that was marked with a fruit from the rainforest at one of the places we visited, but I wasn't certain where. I called the local Andean Discovery office with the cell phone they provided and they tracked it down for me, sent it back to the US with one of their employees, and mailed it to me. You really can't ask for better customer service and thoughtfulness. We feel very fortunate to have found and worked with Andean Discovery. They put together the trip of a lifetime. I would definitely recommend anyone considering a trip to Ecuador and Peru work with Andean Discovery. They are super awesome people!

Andean Discovery crafted a custom trip… to The Lost City of Colombia

Andean Discovery crafted a custom trip to Colombia for a Lost City trek (Ciudad Perdida). It was one of the best adventures of my life, truly a life changing experience. Guide was a pro and the Chef sent ahead of us made sure we had gourmet meal at every major stop along route. I do recommend bringing a hammock if you prefer open air sleeping, the lodging is as expected for this type of journey. The multi-day hike was book-ended with luxury hotel / Villa stays, so that made prep / recovery a great experience. Def plan on going again! Thanks to Damon and his crew for taking it to another level.

Shame on Andean Discovery

Shame on Andean Discovery. When one chooses a travel agency it is for their “craft”, or expertise if you will, on knowing and recommending ALL things for the desired location. My family used them for the first time to travel to Galapagos islands. They sorely disappointed and beyond failed with the transportation from Santa Cruz island to Isabella island. This was the most atrocious life altering experience on the ocean my family has ever had and we grew up on the ocean and we both have boats on a lake and the gulf of Mexico, so we are very experienced with the seas. There were so many issues and wrong doings with this, my words will not do it justice. It was a small speed boat packed to the gizzards with people and only a few life jackets that I could see. I was alarmed by that but knew it was going to be a problem when the man handed out black vomit bags. This entire set up was not only unsafe and should be illegal, the waves and swells were larger than the boat during this time of year. I had my 74 year old mother and sister throwing up the entire miserable 2 hour ride where I had to change their vomit bags by bear crawling on the floor of the boat. There were others vomiting as well, and the worst travel experience of my life and I travel all over the world. Again shame shame on Andean for not knowing what that experience was like and what the ocean was like during that part of their season & more importantly for not providing their clients with OPTIONS. Option to fly between the islands which we found out were available after we got off, thank god alive, that horrific speed boat. And our tour guide knew all of this and he even agreed how rough and awful the ocean and boat experience is during this time and that Andean should be made aware, which is appalling as that is their job! I challenged the members of Andean, to go, and go now, and experience the boat ride (provided them the boat named the “GLADEL”) for themselves from Santa Cruz to Isabella for a whopping $30. I would never want one person to ever experience what my family and I had to endure. They were the worst travel agency I have ever experienced, they were rude, unprofessional and not empathetic at all. They never even reached out after they knew we were taking the plane back between the islands because their travel guide had to fly with us. Their response from Andean below is nothing but lies on the email, THEY should be the experts on the experience regardless and they advised against the duration of the boat ride, not the actual experience of the boat ride because they were incompetent and did not know! Another example of showing no empathy and the boat ride was flat out dangerous and people were throwing up all over the boat that were from the Galapagos islands so just because they are not seasick doesn't mean anything. I didn't even bring up my flight and luggage delay or lack of luggage for the entire trip, as it was not their fault. However, I asked Andean to help me in all these different countries I had to go through on what to do etc, and they said I had to file a baggage claim in the Guayaquil Ecuador airport. Well again with their incompetence on their lack of knowledge and expertise on the Guayaquil airport, there’s no luggage claim area in Guayaquil!! I asked all around and there was nothing on the airport grounds. I landed at 7am and had a flight at 9am to galapagos and later found out from travel guide asking folks at the airport that Aeromexico office is offsite at the airport in which I would miss my flight to the islands...they even had a Ecuadorian agent who didn't know the grounds of the Guayaquil airport..again their incompetency as they have never been to Guayaquil airport. Again their lack of knowledge and expertise is the real reason and truth for this awful experience as they did not even know the layout airport and where any of the offices were located, again not at the airport. And yet they respond again, with absolute lies trying to do what defend themselves on something that is irrelevant and they continue to hurt themselves and dig themselves deeper in their atrocious lack of accountability. LIES....on 6/30 my first flight segment being delayed caused me to travel for over 24 hours and instead of getting into Ecuador at 5pm on 6/30 I arrived on 7/1at 7am which means that the driver and hotel night I paid for on 6/30 evening was all lost. Andean never even offered to meet me 7/1 at my new arrival time, nor help me with my luggage dilemma. I was flying to the islands at 9am so what would a driver do for me then?! And again there is no office or luggage claim in Guayaquil on site. Just so funny they have no clue on the airport but LIE instead with their pompous attitude. When I inquired on being reimbursed for what I paid for Sunday for what I missed that was out of my control, their simple response was "you don't use it you lose it". Again, what type of "business" treats or says that to a paying customer?! They are so lost and just clueless on what it truly means to provide their customers with empathy and support. Their responses dig their own grave. It is so evident they are on the defense instead of taking ownership for their lack of providing options and knowledge and truly not knowing the islands or airports etc. As consumers we have a choice on travel agencies and they should really just own this and try to better themselves than acting in such a way where they are trying to blame me who paid them for my trip of a lifetime that they did such a poor poor job with. Never waste your time looking into this disaster of an agency.

It was a trip of a lifetime

It was a trip of a lifetime - Andean Discovery and their team of guides/ naturalist exceeded every expectation that my wife and I had of this trip . They created a very personnel environment every step of our way with explanations to everything we saw and / or experienced. We felt extremely comfortable and at ease traveling in foreign countries with the company of our guides/ naturalist . The meals were crazy good and I have been in the “food business “ all of my career. We ate and experienced many things that were foreign to us but was a great experience. We would recommend using Andean Discovery . We are looking into another / different trip elsewhere with them

I had a great experience with Andean Discovery. The local tour guides were all very knowledgeable, thoughtful and patient with our group. We enjoyed the experiences that were planned. They took care of the planning and details which would have been very time consuming on my own

20th Anniversary with Andean Discovery

My wife and I have traveled all over the world in the past 21 years. Andean Discovery was by far the most accurate, serviceable, professional and personable company I have dealt with. My wife and I celebrated our 20th Anniversary in Peru. Andean Discovery made all of the accommodations for us and we received exactly what we expected and more. They are able to accommodate all of your requests, from simple to the most elaborate hotels in the area. Not to mention, our tour guide (Cesar Augusto) was the best tour guide ever. This was an awesome experience.
