No Book. No Quibble Refund? *cough cough* AVOID.

Ordered a well-known book on Japanese cooking, in late March. A gift to older retired friends who had recently discovered the joy of Japanese cuisine. I received an email stating that book was Dispatched via - note- Royal Mail - on 29 Mar. Never arrived. Over the last few weeks, persistent requests for refund led to the ever-dissembling Chloe providing a questionable plea that allegedly Yodel [sic] had delivered it to a "Safe Place" [sic], being the Front Porch, of a house that has no front porch, only a front door. So, not Royal Mail, supposedly delivered A Book - Safe Place being the Front not-a-porch Door - Open to the Elements and opportunists - allegedly on 1 April when both residents were in all day - erm, well, there's the thing. Apparently, this not Royal Mail [ie allegedly Yodel] were contacted and they allegedly provided a delivery address, and supposedly a GPS delivery location, being the same GPS info obtainable by simply going to Google Maps and typing the Postcode, ie a highly precise location accurate to a few inches, somewhere inside the building very close to the kitchen, a long way from the front door. Definitely not a mobile GPS position by a courier outside the property. No proof of delivery, no photo of front door, definitely no photo of non-existent porch. You can draw your own conclusions as to what is really going on here. Royal Mail? Yodel? Book-Fairy? Caveat Emptor. I finally received a refund mid-Jun, no apology. Treat this "Bookseller" (cough cough) as if they have The Plague, and AVOID.

AVOID! Wrong book sent and no refund

Ordered a book from their eBay site and they sent a paperback not the hardback I ordered. Complained to be told that the description says you may not get the exact version ordered but could return it. Returned it and they have not refunded me and claim its not been received even though I have sent them proof the post office delivered it.

Very good quality, service and price

I ordered a pre-owned book on Mediterranean trees and shrubs, and was delighted with the very good physical quality of the book, the swift delivery, and the very reasonable price.

I ordered War Of The Worlds/Time…

I ordered War Of The Worlds/Time Machine book from them. Arrived promptly but stank of damp and mould to the point I would not want to read it.

Dreadful company

I bought a secondhand book on eBay. £1.99. The book which turned up was a different version to the one advertised and very grubby. I contacted them and was advised that “Stock photo for illustration purposes”! Apparently they can put any photo up showing any edition in a brand new condition and then send something completely different in a bad state. The book which was sent to me is only worth 50p. They have offered a refund if I return book at my expense…..I know £1.99 is not a lot of money, buts it’s the principle and the feeling of being misled and ‘had’. I have now ordered a brand new book from Amazon for £2.99 with free returns which I should have done in the first place. I will not use this company again and do not recommend it.

Now on my Blacklist.

I have given one star, as there is no option to give zero. I ordered a book from this company through Abe books. The book didn't arrive. I requested an update. No reply was received. I then complained to Abe books, who subsequently told me that they couldn't get a response either, so they then issued an immediate refund, and told me that they would take up the poor service directly with Goldstone. I regularly use Abe books, but will not use Goldstone again.

Promise of no quibble refund ... but

Promise of no quibble refund if not completely satisfied. Very poorly books received. Complained. They required photos to be taken and sent, then a significant delay before refund

Goldstone Rare Books on ebay

Goldstone Rare Books on ebay offer a great choice of second hand books at affordable prices, I have used multiple times in last year. Delivery has normally been fairly quick. I would recommend for price.
