Physio following surgery

I was referred to Physiologic following surgery on my quadriceps tendon. I had four sessions with Venkat Devaraya. He used acupuncture and massage on my leg and gave me a series of exercises to help build up my knee. The improvement in my knee was noticeable. Venkat was professional and friendly. I would be happy to recommend him

After my first visit I had less pain, marvellous treatment

My doctor recently referred me to physiologic Hythe due to constant pain behind my knee and after 4 appointments with Venkat Devaraya of acupuncture and massage and some very good exercise instructions I am pain free. Venkat was extremely informative and professional and I felt very confident in his care. I would not hesitate to recommend Venkat and if I have the slightest pain again in the near future I will not hesitate to book an appointment. Thank you for your help Venkat.

I cannot speak highly enough of Katie…

I cannot speak highly enough of Katie at Physiologic, she really changed my life. At the beginning of my journey I was in so much pain I couldn't function in my daily life, my mobility was poor and I would just lie in bed depressed and feeling like I'd be there forever. Some nights I would be unable to even sleep because of the pain and would just cry for hours. I felt like my GP wasn't taking my pain seriously, I kept being told it would solve itself, however it was getting worse every month. I gained weight from being so inactive, which only worsened the pain and the strain on my back. I felt like as time went on, the number of issues with my back were also increasing. After 2 years of struggling through life, I ended up having a breakdown whilst on the phone to my GP, crying that I couldn't even walk into the hospital anymore to visit my terminally ill father and I couldn't go on living like this. Life has no meaning when you can barely move. This seemed to prompt them into taking me more seriously, and I was finally referred to Physiologic. I was lucky enough to be allocated to Katie. She managed to pinpoint the sources of the pain immediately, and said what she thought my underlying problems might be. After our session she gave me exercises to do at home alongside my sessions. She suggested an MRI scan to find out what was going on, which I was able to be referred for upon her advice. Whilst I waited for my MRI appointment I continued the sessions and felt my pain level decreasing steadily. The results of my MRI were quite significant, although I could not understand them as they weren't fully explained to me by the GP, and there were a number of problems at play. Physio seemed to be really helping so I told my GP I wanted to continue with this, rather than consider surgery at that time. Katie was able to interpret my MRI results in a way I could understand, sat with me and went through everything. The results were pretty much what she had suspected from the outset, but helped me keep positive about it, encouraging me and emphasizing that the damage was reversible. Katie went above and beyond just the physio sessions by advising me of other ways in which my recovery could be aided. She gave me excellent diet advice and because of her I even managed to get a weight management refferal with a dietician and diet counselling which has been extremely valuable to me. She also recommended I have my blood checked for underlying problems, as I was struggling to lose weight even on a calorie controlled diet. Katie suspected polycystic ovaries or diabeties. It turned out she was correct and I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. This was actually life-changing, but in a positive way because I could finally adapt my diet to my condition and cutting out carbs and sugar I have now lost half a stone in the past month, which has further helped lessen the strain on my back and aid my recovery. My blood sugar levels have gone from being extremely high to being in the normal-high range and I have much more energy and am finally able to exercise going for walks, doing gardening- simple things that in the past I thought I'd never be able to do again. Over the course of my treatment my pain went from a 10 to a 0 in just 6 months (10 sessions). I still have odd days when I feel some pain, but it would only be a 1 or 2 on the scale and it's getting better every day. I have kept up the exercises Katie gave me which are helping to bring back the strength to my back as well. I am truly amazed at the change it has made to my life, and how quickly it happened. I hought I was going to struggle for the rest of my life, so it's such a relief to feel normal again. I hope Katie and everyone else at Physiologic know what a fantastic job they do, they are excellent at what they do, friendly, reliable and have gone above and beyond. I really felt that they cared about me as a person, not just as a patient, I cannot thank them enough, and I would not hestitate to recommend them. If you struggle with getting action from your GP like I did, do not give up. Keep calling and explaining how you feel even if it means you have to cry or yell to be heard. You don't have to suffer in silence, your life can be turned around and it's never too late to make a start.
