Effortless Resume Upgrade

Updating and creating a resume can feel overwhelming, but this website made it incredibly simple. I uploaded my outdated resume, and 'My Perfect Resume' handled the rest, providing excellent suggestions along the way.

Subscribed me slyly and charged me an…

Subscribed me slyly and charged me an extra 4x £19.85 when all I wanted to spend was £1.99. DO NOT USE THEM AND SEND THIS REVIEW TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. ^^^^^ Original Review ended there ^^^^^ For those finding this review after LiveCareer replied where they mentioned refunding me as a gesture of goodwill I will state what I believe are the facts and make some suggestions LiveCareer can make to improve transparency so we, their users are better informed and make decisions having ALL the necessary information PLAINLY presented to us. Prior to purchase, on the checkout page there is no mention of being automatically subscribed to a much more costly subscription. Q. Why not? Suggestion: place an opt-in checkbox here with price and period info clearly stated right at the point of checking out, close to the submit/purchase button (I'm a frontend developer so know this is technically VERY simple) Original purchase was £1.99 one-off payment which gives 1 months access, subscription is £19.85 / 4 weeks access Q. why 10 times the cost for the same access period? After purchasing a CV template I received an email with the subject "Thanks for your order" - no mention of subscription or being subscribed in the subject. Within the email itself, in the table where you'd expect to see matters related to charges/payments only 1.99 twice, item price and total. There is mention of being subscribed and the cost and the period buried within the text of the email but in the same font and easily missed - I missed it and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Suggestion: make this subscription information standout by i. Separate paragraph ii. Different colour text iii. Make a future upcoming payments table and add the price for subscription etc to that as payment data should be "glance-able" which is an industry term, like red text for warning or error and green text for success. Then, usually in my experience with recurring payments, you get an email each time it's paid, therefore 4 payments were taken so 4 "Thanks for your subscription payment" emails should have arrived (technically it would only have been 1 because as soon as the first notification arrived I would have been on their website like a shot, cancelling the UNINTENDED subscription and demanding a refund). They have a clause 4.c. in their terms and conditions which says anybody who places an order is considered a "subscriber". THAT IS HOW THEY GET YOU! This is what happened to me. Q. If you're taking a regular payment then why not informing and thanking the person each and every time and providing a receipt as you did when you took the initial payment and which most people would expect when paying for something? Suggestion: make sure you inform your users when regular payments have been taken (send thanks email and receipt/s). Q. Why are you subscribing people by default rather than allowing them to opt in themselves? Suggestion: make this opt-in and not automatic due to a shady clause in your terms and conditions. Only by noticing a regular payment I didn't recognise on my bank statement did I even discover that there was even a new service banks have added called SUBSCRIPTIONS - everyone beware, as no longer are regular payments from your bank limited to DDs and Standing Orders which have been established for decades, they have introduced this new avenue to help you spend your money unawares! I am also very upset with my bank for this - they didn't even inform me that a new subscription was being setup and new, regular payments would be taken - almost collusion in my opinion! To be fair, I was happy with the CV template I purchased and the ability to edit online for the period of my initial purchase. When that period came to an end I did not visit their website again to use their services as I'd finished my new CV and happy with it and felt it was £1.99 well spent. They do offer very beautiful CV templates and their CV upload service which creates a new CV based on the template you select and the data from your uploaded CV works very well so their service is good for this but I would be very wary of obscure clauses hidden within lengthy terms and conditions.
