this was the first credit card i got. i started building credit when i was 60. Avant took a chance and sent me a $300 card. I was just approved to go to $1000. This card is special to me since it started my credit journey and 14 months later i bought my first home. Thanks Avant!

Fairly easy process and was funded in 3 days . So overall I am pleased with their company and happy with them . Would recommend them if you are in need of a loan .

I would strongly advise avoiding the avant card. Upon receiving card it had $2000 available credit but was declined literally everywhere I attempted to use the card. A representative said it was for "fraud cooldown" whatever that means. Seems strange to approve my card and a $2000 limit to then immediately deny every single attempt to use the card. After a few calls to the company my card began to work and seemed to work fine for a couple years. In August/September 2024 they started charging me a $8.95/month maintenance fee. I originally signed up for the card because it had no monthly or annual fee. On top of adding $105/year in fees they raised my interest rate to approx 36%. After the interest rate hike I paid the balance down to $5 but when I checked my balance it didn't reflect the payment. I called customer service and they tell me that it'll take 8 days from when the payment left my bank account until they credit my account. Every other credit card I have credits my account the same day the money leaves my bank account (they received the $). This seems to be a way to just inconvenience customers for no particular reason. I would avoid getting this card. It has been more problems than it was worth and they will just change the terms at their will to get more money from their customers. Do yourself a favor and get a secured cap one or discover. Avant is definitely not trustworthy and clearly has absolutely zero interest in providing a decent product to their customers.

I never got my activation email- it took close to a week after I got my card and I had to call in to activate but other than that..
