Caveat Emptor

Ordered some products online and all were showing as being in stock. Got a phone call the following day saying that one item wasn’t actually in stock but was offered an inferior replacement at the same price. I declined this offer and asked that my order be cancelled as they couldn’t fulfil it. Noted that my order status was changed to ‘cancelled’ online but my credit card was charged the full amount the following day. (All of the goods on my original order were still then showing as stock items but when I called to check was again told that they are not and the web site is wrong) Called up a couple of weeks later and spoke to accounts to ask why my card was charged for goods they didn’t have and why I hadn’t received a refund to correct this. Accounts suggested that sales hadn’t processed paperwork correctly and gave an unenthusiastic ‘i’ll look in to it and get back to you’ response. I heard no more for a week and have now reported events to my credit card company as interest was becoming due on the money they had taken for goods they didn’t have. Then had one further call from them to ask if I’d secured the goods elsewhere as they now had items in stock. I replied that I had and that they have taken money that they had no right to and that I would like it back. Still I wait.
