Don't trust.

Rent4sure persuaded me to go with Virgin Media broadband in advance of going into my new apartment. The promise was that when I arrive, I just need to plug in the box and no installation was required. They also made sure that I paid them as soon as possible. I arrived at the flat, broadband doesn't work and installation was required. I enquired from Rent4sure what is happening, and they said they didn't know. They "popped" a mail to Virgin and left it at that. I'm in an apartment with no signal or internet, but R4sure got their kickback. Don't buy the add-on services.

DO NOT EVEN THINK OF USING IF…

DO NOT EVEN THINK OF USING IF SELF-EMPLOYED. IF ESTATE AGENTS MENTION THIS COMPANY - RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. A TRULY HORRIBLE, STRESSFUL EXPERIENCE. NO RIGHT TO RESIDE REFERENCE, BUT NEED TO SHOW WHERE EVERY PENNY COMES FROM. A SIMPLE CASH DEPOSIT INTO A BANK ACCOUNT IS QUERIED, AS COULD BE "A GAMBLING WIN". ALSO, THEY ARE COMPLETELY CONFUSED AS TO WHAT DIVIDENDS MEAN. DON'T BOTHER UNLESS IN FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT. REALLY UNHELPFUL AND REALLY NOT WORTH THE EFFORT. A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.

Negative tenant experience

My letting agency made use of Rent4sure to provide evidence that I was a genuine tenant. Rent4sure promptly completed a credit check, which was great. This gave me hope that I would be able to move into my new property quickly (as I needed to move homes urgently). However, my experience with Rent4sure ended up being terribly stressful. This is because Rent4sure use a rigid income referencing process that is solely dependent on a response from your employer. This may be okay for some people who work for responsive employers, however, I work for a large company that has hundreds of employees. My finance department is very busy and has a backlog of emails, so they could not complete an income reference for me quickly. Two weeks after my application was handed over to Rent4sure, I was told by my letting agency that Rent4sure had stopped my referencing because they hadn’t received an income reference. This put me in a very stressful situation, as I had placed a holding deposit for the property in question, and would lose it if my referencing couldn’t be completed. Though this isn’t directly the fault of Rent4sure, I believe the company should provide an alternative method for tenants to show evidence of their income (particularly in cases like mine where my employer cannot provide swift referencing services). I even suggested this to Rent4sure at the time. In light of the situation I was in, I offered the company several alternative ways of verifying my income; such as a copy of my payslips from the past year (proving my monthly income), an email from my official business account (proving that I work for my employer) and a copy of my employment contract. I could have even offered evidence of my savings to prove my level of affordability. Unfortunately I didn’t get a response from Rent4sure about any of this. Instead, I received email after email telling me to chase up the income reference, which was obviously what I was already doing. In the end Rent4sure cancelled my referencing and my letting agency put the property back on the market. Unfortunately I would not recommend Rent4sure. They are fully dependent on the prompt receipt of an employer reference, and unfortunately I don’t have much control over my employer’s response time. If I had known this was going to be the case, I would not have put down a holding deposit on the property and would have gone for a letting agency that has in-house referencing services that are less rigid. For instance, in previous situations I’ve been able to provide copies of my payslips, bank statements and evidence of savings to verify my income to letting agencies. In my opinion, I found that Rent4sure’s service was completely inadequate.
