Progressive eye disease

Late last year I was diagnosed with a progressive eye disease, namely Corneal Epithelial Basement Dystrophy, which was having a marked effect on all aspects of my life. I underwent Bilateral Alcohol Delamination in October 2022. The procedure was carried out by Mr Sid Goel, lead clinician with the Eye Correction Centre, UK East Division. From my first consultation/diagnosis with him, through to my discharge, I found Mr Goel to be a highly personable, knowledgeable, professional and patient clinician - extremely important qualities when one is undergoing such a stressful procedure & painful recovery. He displayed a very positive attitude throughout. The procedure was successful, and has corrected the symptoms caused by the Dystrophy. Once again I am able to undertake and enjoy all the activities that the Dystrophy had taken away from me. Thank you so much Mr Goel!

Caring and Comprehensive Treatment for Major Eyesight Problems.

Mr Say Anh Quah of the Eye Correction Centre, Bangor, initially saw me at his clinic in Bangor in August 2022. I had been referred by my optician due to problems with eyesight in both my eyes. I was given this private appointment with Mr Quah within a few weeks of the referral. I should mention that I have Keritaconus which means that my cornea bulge outwards, making cataract surgery more difficult. Mr Quah was warm, welcoming and caring at this first appointment and explained what he thought was the best way to proceed with improving my sight. He suggested that it would be best to treat my left eye where, despite a cataract operation 8 years earlier, my vision in that eye had, again, become "cloudy". After a bank of tests Mr Quah suggested and carried out a laser capsulotomy on my left eye that day. He said that after he had seen the result of the laser treatment he consider the best way forward. After a month's wait for my eyesight to "settle" I had my eyes retested and returned to see Mr Quah in Bangor. Mr Quah explained that the laser treatment had, unfortunately, only made a slight improvemen in the vision in my left eye. He suggested that rather than doing further treatment to my left eye that the best way forward was to begin by initially carrying out a cataract operation on better, right eye. Mr Quah's very efficient secretary Amanda quickly arranged an appointment for my right cataract operation at the Spire Regency Private Hospital in Macclesfield. Mr Quah carried out the cataract operation on 12th October 2022 - I stayed at a nearby hotel with my wife. Mr Quah and the staff at the Spire Hospital were caring and reassuring. Subsequently Mr Quah advised me that the operation had been a more challenging one due to my Kerataconus. He arranged an additional appointment at the HCA Private Hospital in Wilmslow the following day and gave me further advice about my follow-up treatment. Mr Quah, also, kept in touch by email regarding my progress over the next month. After a further eye test I was given a further appointment with Mr Quah in Bangor on the 12th November. Mr Quah very honestly advised me that, he was pleased with the results of the operation he had carried out on my right eye. However, he advised me against further treatment for my left eye as he was not confident that its sight could be improved further. Following being fitted with new spectacles there has been a considerable improvement in the sight in my right eye. I am now able to drive again having been advised not to do so since July 2022. Whilst I had hoped for greater improvement in the sight of my left eye, I accept Mr Quah's advice that, unfortunately, that is not possible. I would like to conclude by saying that Mr Quah proved to be extremely competent in his skills and knowledge as an eye surgeon, in addition to being caring and helpful at all stages of my treatment. I am VERY happy to unreservedly recommend the Eye Treatment Centre and particularly Mr Quah as an eye surgeon of outstanding ability.

Lens replacement surgery by Sid Goel

was referred to Mr Goel by my own optician as I no longer wanted to wear glasses. From my initial phone call with his secretary to the procedure being done, my whole experience was fantastic. His secretary made me feel relaxed as I was a bit apprehensive at first. My first appointment with Mr Goel and his team was amazing. My husband and I had all our questions answered and I was informed of what would happen and what to expect. We went away to ponder over what we wanted to do and I soon decided this was an option for me. My appointments were made promptly one week apart. The nurse (Jan) who looked after me on the day of my procedure was lovely. She made me feel comfortable and put me at ease. Mr Goel is amazing and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending him and his team to anyone considering any lens replacement. Once friends and family knew I was considering this surgery, Mr Goel's name came up so many times. He was highly recommended. My results are amazing and I'm so glad I was in a position to have this surgery. Thank you Mr Goel. X

Refractive Lensectomy

I was very apprehensive about eye surgery and took a long time selecting Mr Quah, who was recommended to me by an optician. I found Mr Quah very personable, approachable and professional, and immediately felt reassured he was the best surgeon I could engage. I am very pleased with the results of my eye surgery and have already recommended Mr Quah to a very good friend.
