Thank you the welcome packet makes me feel apart and invested and that NGT Academy is thoughtful and cares about their students. I would of liked a 9v battery included in the FSNE package lol…. Good work guys! Do more things like this and make it more personable if you can! Keep it up!!! Thanks

New to IT, and only through the first two modules…

I'm only through the first two modules and I'm sure my opinion is likely to change as I learn. As an outsider to the tech field, newly being exposed to this field, I'm happy to say that I don't feel completely lost as I go through the coursework. Everything is laid out in a clear and concise manner. Its easy to navigate, and there is just enough accountability baked into the system to be encouraging without feeling like you have a nagging parent staring over your shoulder. If I were to critique, I would say I would appreciate more requirements for interaction with the basic level stuff. I'm sure later on a student will need to have alot of this basic information memorized. While traditional study methods can help this, there are alot of memory games or workbook type activities that can assist. I would also say that there are several points where the instructor uses industry jargon that the new student does not understand very well. While such a student will get the jist, the information could be clearer. I'm sure having alot of experience in the field makes it easy for an instructor to forget at times to spell things out so clearly. A better preview of what a student may be doing upon graduation would be nice as well. All that being said, the program is legitimately teaching skills that can be sequentially learned in a field that a simple GOOGLE search can demonstrate is chock full of people who lack communication skills and overcomplicate what can already be highly technical at times on its own. If you tried to learn this on your own you could quickly become "lost at sea" in all the information/ideas. And if you tried to learn this from an instructor that isn't actually experienced working in the CURRENT field [I'm looking at you, 4 year universities...], you may very well end up in a similar place- it will just take longer and be more expensive.

I was expecting what I heard in a…

I was expecting what I heard in a lesson that i would get some routers or switches. I got some tools for wiring cat 6 with some wire, a t shirt, and some stickers. All in all im set for a job. Im just disappointed about not getting a kickstart on my lab. The social aspect of the academy needs something. I think its a good response from the staff but no interaction and sense of community from the other students. It needs to be easier to navigate. More 1-1 tutoring with staff would be nice.

Well meaning and knowledgable group but set students expectations too high

The people at NGT Academy are on a positive mission. I feel they are genuine and truly want to help to change the lives of their students. I'll start with the good: the LMS is pretty decently organized and makes for a game like experience. I enjoyed the milestones and minor successes along the way. The content is very rich on the network side and I was happy with the foundation knowledge provided. The attempt at fully rounding out the experience like a university with career services classes was a nice feature. I have a positive feeling about the people who work(ed) there and the knowledge they have. The bad: the security program didn't feel fleshed out. The ISA is great for some, but for myself who paid in full, felt like I didn't quite get the value for how much it cost. However, they did provide a bunch of additional courses for free which eased that point of frustration. The course had a lot of on-the-fly changes, and ultimately went beyond the timeline they promised. This negatively affected my timeline for seeking employment. Additionally, due to the extended timeline, the program's LMS features ceased to function leaving a few stones unturned. I put a lot of time into my projects and didn't receive any feedback. I know I did well on them, but it would have been nice to know more details and thoughts from the instructors. Finally, it felt as though NGT Academy doesn't have the ability to place students in entry level jobs like they believe they can. The cybersecurity industry in general has a problem with entry level jobs not truly being "entry level", but many/most students believed they'd be in high demand after completing the course. It simply isn't the case, and isn't the fault of NGT Academy, but they should set expectations accordingly. The last thing I'll say is, I hope NGT Academy figures it out--irons out the kinks--and helps the IT industry fill positions with well trained professionals.

The Cybersecurity program is top-notch

The Cybersecurity program is top-notch, the best of its kind. NexGent takes many students, many with no technical experience, from zero to passing the Security + exam. NextGent is so good at what it does that payment plans are contingent upon its ability to lead students to success. They care more about the success of their students than profit right of the bat. The programs are life-changing, concise and to the point. The instructors are also fully invested in the success of the students. Joining the Cybersecurity program at NextGent was a good decision for me.

The program was great!

The program was great. There are just a couple of things with consistency. If all the instructors knew each other's milestones and recommended more hack the box and other resources for working on towards the end of the program it would help make the program stronger!
