White Glove
I just bought a 1960s daybed and spent $799 for white glove service. The piece came unassembled. Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s ever been assembled. Looking at the photos, I see now they’re not of the actual piece I bought? 60 year old pieces of heavy Dutch pine are going to be tricky to assemble for anybody, much less me. The delivery people told me they didn't have a record of me buying white glove service. (I’ve screenshotted the receipt indicating white glove, just so I have it, not that it matters.) The seller said 1st Dibs arranges for the shipping and “there’s not much we can do at this point.” I’m not going to return because they take a 20% restock fee and I have to pay for shipping and they get to turn around and sell it to some other sucker.

Kayla was great. What I did not appreciate was getting a promo code that I could not apply due to not beingt a first time buyer on 1st dibs. Tantamount to being punished for being a regular customer. On a ourchase this exoensive, I certainly could have used the 250 discount. Will have an influence on my purchasing in the future through 1st dibs.

Advertised Price Guarantee Not Honored – Extremely Disappointed!
I placed an order with 1stDibs for the first time and purchased a ring worth several thousand euros. Before making the purchase, I compared several offers online and found the same ring from the same seller on a competitor's platform, where it was listed for approximately €500 less. I chose to order the ring at the higher price from 1stDibs because of their comprehensive "promises," including the price match guarantee, intending to take advantage of the price guarantee after purchase. I placed the order on November 22, 2024, and it was confirmed three days later. However, the ring was not shipped until seven days after that and arrived a day later via DHL Express. This delay meant that I could only inspect the ring upon receiving the package. Since everything was in order, I contacted customer support on the same day to request the price guarantee. On the day of my purchase, I had already taken detailed screenshots of the competitor's listing and sent them to customer support on December 3. It took six days to receive a response, even though I had repeatedly followed up via the customer support chat. I was informed that the price guarantee would NOT be granted. The reason given was as follows: "We cannot accommodate the price shown on the seller's site because your order has already been confirmed and delivered. We would have had to be notified prior to order confirmation in order for us to investigate further." According to the support team, the request for the price guarantee should have been made BEFORE placing the order. However, this contradicts the terms stated on 1stDibs' website, which say: "1stDibs has been informed of the price discrepancy within 7 calendar days of purchasing." This means that 1stDibs does not honor their own promises. The advertised price guarantee is therefore a false promise and has misled me. I could have purchased the same ring for €500 less from the competitor if I hadn’t relied on 1stDibs' numerous advertised promises (price guarantee, comprehensive buyer protection, insured worldwide shipping, etc.). Ultimately, these advertised promises are completely worthless if the company does not act in the customer's best interest. For a purchase worth several thousand euros, I expect to be able to rely 100% on the platform and that everything is done to make the customer experience as positive as possible. This is not the case with 1stDibs. I never received confirmation of my request, and only after following up in the customer support chat did I learn that my email with the requested screenshots had been received. After that, customer support took nearly another week to respond to my inquiry. When I questioned the rejection of the price guarantee, I received a quicker response, but now the claim was made that the cheaper offer had only been uploaded to the seller's website after my purchase: "The item was also uploaded to the seller's website after your purchase and not at the time of purchase." However, my screenshots with date and time stamps prove otherwise. I have the impression that there is a deliberate attempt to avoid honoring the price guarantee. As a customer, I feel that I am not a priority here. This was my first experience as a customer with 1stDibs, and overall, I am extremely disappointed. The higher prices often charged on this platform should be justified by their comprehensive sales promises. However, if these promises are not interpreted or fulfilled in the customer's favor, there is no reason to make a purchase on 1stDibs. Truly a major disappointment!

Keep bullying sellers
Keep bullying sellers. I've sold on 1stdibs but they keep breaking their policies and charging me and accepting returns from buyers even 1.5 months outside the return window. They also randomly issue refunds. Most of their customer service team is rude and dishonest, and all give you different answers. On top of that, the commissions are heavy, north of 30% all in. Terrible platform that bullies and extorts.
