I had the misfortune to instruct RG Law on a simple, routine property purchase. I wasn’t happy with the low quality service and wouldn’t use them again. When I first instructed RG Law, they were aware that I needed them to deal with the purchase diligently and expeditiously. RG Law did the opposite. They were so slow in progressing (or rather not progressing) the purchase that I became homeless before we finally exchanged contracts. At no time did I ever feel they were on my side. Nor were RG Law interested in meeting my requirements. RG Law’s approach is based on a rigid adherence to a clunky case management system regardless of whether this serves the customer. Despite daily chasing from me, they were not willing to use any initiative to progress the purchase as this was not part of their case management system. For example, RG Law made no attempt to check the planning position on my property and nor were they willing to contact the planning authority to check this. Eventually, the delays became so serious that I had to obtain the planning permissions for them. The same applied for other parts of the transaction where I had to get another solicitor to prepare and provide them with some of the routine conveyancing documents to get things moving. Aside from the general sluggishness, RG Law were not willing to follow simple instructions. This caused delays in the purchase and cost me money because RG Law failed to include all the commercial terms in the contract. I did try RG Law’s ‘Complaints Procedure’ but this was a complete waste of time. When I did get a response (after constant chasing) their replies were evasive and unhelpful. I have given them a one star review because this was the lowest that could be awarded. Based on my experience, it is hard to believe any of the so called ‘five star’ reviews are really genuine.

RG guided us through a very arduous leasehold flat sale, made complicated by dealing with a tricky requirement from the buyers' lender, a criminal-like property management firm and an exasperatingly slow freeholder. Great communication throughout, good basic systems and clear value for money (especially given the mountains of associated fees counter-parties like to cream off). Didn't seem fair that estate agents could charge us more than twice RG's fees, given the work involved.
