Heard a lot about it - wanted to try it.

I'd never used milk paint before and wanted to try it. The hardest part of the whole process was probably choosing the color. I bought Flag Red and Iron Black, planning to use the red first, then put on a layer of black. I mixed the red with too little water and had a layer of friable solid on the coating. Sanding gave a lot of red dust which coated everything. But it did give a matte surface of bright red. I was more careful measuring the black powder and water and got excellent coverage. After sanding and applying a matte acrylic varnish, I have an attractive medium-to-dark gray surface. I've used this painted toolbox for several months and the paint is holding up well.

“Shellac" has always been a dirty word…

“Shellac" has always been a dirty word in my family. My son is an amateur carpenter and suggested I try using a wool applicator and shellac on my Grandmother antique buffet. I was blown away! The finish is fabulous, and the compliments never stop coming. Thank you for continuing to provide quality products! Mary

Weight, and mixing.

Hi, I discovered Real Milk Paint a bit ago. Love it. However, on "mix it Monday" the host measures, instead if weighing the two ingredients. I believe weighing is more accurate and repeatable. As a budding cook, weighing is indispensable. Also, I have an electronic mixer, with a spinning magnet, that I employ for about an eight hour mix. Then I skim the foam. The result is incredibly smooth paint that I use. When combining those two methods with Real Milk Paint, I can get highly repeatable, and satisfying results. Thank you, Jim

I was pleased with the prompt mailing of the products I ordered, citrus solvent and pure tung oil, on two occasions in August 2022. The solvent and oil mixed well and produced the results I wanted. Perfect service, excellent products.

After doing quite a bit of research and…

After doing quite a bit of research and talking with the nice people at Milk Paint I decided to use the Outdoor Defense Oil on my redwood deck railing. I had several questions as regards how many coats, etc. as well as what I could possibly use as a top coat over it. Everyone I spoke with was very helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. I would definitely recommend.

I have always heard woodworkers rave about tung oil finishes so I bought a gallon of 50/50 from The Real Milk Company to finish three quilt chest I built to gift at Christmas, and they still stink like ranced oil. Trying to figure out what to do to make them usable.
