A truly fantastic charity
Our experiences with the A-World are truly fantastic. Firstly, the brilliant collection service they provide to collect donated items makes it so much easier for us to donate pre-loved items, especially large items that we wouldn't be able to cary through busy city centres to get to their shops. I've donated to charity shops for years and have never come across a collection service. They just make the process so easy. Secondly, we massively appreciate the amazing opportunities they provide for us to to be able to take our autistic son to theme parks during the takeover events they organise. We have always avoided taking our son to these kinds of places on weekends and during school holidays because they are simply too busy and there's often very few accommodations, trained staff or understanding for SEND children with additional needs. It provides our son with these experiences in a much calmer, more understanding environment than normal. It also takes the pressure off us as parents to know there is no judgement, only understanding.
Great
The days out are such an amazing thing and there's literally nothing else like the Gullivers take over for our son. It's his only chance to try out rides in a non judgemental, affordable way. We always see other people we know as I think its a really special event for the whole A word community.
A World Takeover Days
The A World provides opportunities for those with additional needs to attend exciting days out. We have been luckily enough to go onday trips the A World have organised and, as a family, have really enjoyed them. They are quieter for my son and we can experience these trips with less stress. It is also a way of families with special needs to enjoy a day together and not be judged, as all the other families are in similar positions. We love the A World takeover days and are greatful they provide these opportunities.
The A World have provided our family…
The A World have provided our family with such wonderful opportunities to experience places that would be really difficult for us to attend at peak times with our daughter who has ASD. We have always found communication to be great, straightforward booking processes and friendly staff and helpers at events. We love seeing the photos Harley manages to capture of our children which are uploaded to Facebook for us to download. We frequently shop in their charity shops which are always well organised and clean. We fully support and appreciate this cause and the wonderful work they do.
We recently attended the A world take…
We recently attended the A world take over event at Gulliver’s world and had a fantastic day. Plenty of helpful information was provided leading up to the day. Despite the cold and wet weather everyone was in such good spirits. The reduced hustle and bustle and queue time really helped, enjoy the day. A great time had by all.

Gulliver’s World Takeover
We went to the Gulliver’s World takeover and had the best time 😊 having gone last summer and used an access pass, this experience was much more relaxed and enjoyable. I can’t thank the A World enough, for the events they organise. It really is a lifeline for so many people. Can’t wait for the next takeover.
Gullivers world aworld event
Loved our first gullivers world theme park event with the aworld! Everything is so much quieter and It’s so nice to be surrounded by people who understand & share similar experiences. We can’t wait for the next event 🤍 Thank you
My previous review was deleted as I…
My previous review was deleted as I used the first name of person who interviewed me at the Non Profit The A World. It was at begining of Feb, still not heard from them or anybody else from the organisation to date. I am disappointed by my experience with the World Nonprofit Organisation. Despite being excited about the opportunity to interview the lack of communication and structure during the interview process left me feeling undervalued. Although the company's values initially resonated with me, my experience quickly soured when I felt ghosted after the interview. I had hoped that my background working for the local council, along with my personal connection to having a child with ASD, would make me a valuable addition to the team. However, it seems that my efforts were not appreciated. After applying for two additional positions within the organization and being given a business card with assurances of a follow-up on Monday, I expected better communication. Yet, my email requesting interview feedback went unanswered, highlighting a blatant disregard for the importance of keeping candidates informed. It's disheartening to see such poor handling from someone who purportedly understands the significance of providing feedback and communication to all candidates. This experience has left me in doubt with the organization's commitment to inclusivity and professionalism. The fact that my review was reported twice, where I want to share the experience in public interest is speaks volumes.
•experience in each section of the charity
•We’ve donated items via the collection service. Came on the correct day, happily loaded and was thanked. •the local branch in Hyde has lovely volunteers and they try hard with displaying the goods. They price things well for a charity shop. • we’ve been on the “take over days” gullivers, zoo and land of light. It’s so nice to be able to relax with people who understand. They thought and effort put into the events is massive.
