Great product, hassle free delivery

We bought 5 fireplace hearth slabs - massive heavy things, from Melton Stone. We first received samples by post which helped us make a decision on the finish. I ordered the slabs online but didn't notice it was possible to choose a delivery date, and received an email shortly after, confirming the date of delivery (about a week later). Unfortunately I couldn't make that date and so I called up to change the delivery, and was told that I'd had the option of choosing delivery date at checkout (which I missed - my bad), anyway they assured me they'd change it. Unfortunately the message wasn't passed on, and a week later (the day before the *original* delivery date) I called up to double check (just to be absolutely sure they changed the date) - and they had no record of my previous call! Mistakes happen, although my call was initially met with "sorry we can't change it" and "well there's no record of your call". I know customers can make mistakes too (!) but I promise I definitely called to speak to someone immediately after I placed the online order, and they definitely confirmed the new delivery date - although annoyingly I didn't get it in writing. Anyway I'm writing a 5 star review because the problem was resolved and thankfully they were able to change the delivery date. This was really important as the slabs were to be delivered onto the pavement of a busy high road in London, and nobody would have been there for the whole day... Final word - the slabs are now installed under our new log burner, we sealed them with No Nonsense Stone and Tile sealer (which is a matt sealer) which brought up the tones of the slabs, and the whole lot looks absolutely amazing. Very happy with the result! I bought 5 slabs just in case of issues with cuts, we only ended up using 3, and I confirm (having dropped the remainder into a skip from a reasonable height) that these things do NOT break easily - the whole slabs remained intact - astonishing! Ayway that was reassuring :)
