Travelteer has been so accommodating

Travelteer has been so accommodating, welcoming, supportive, and caring for my entire experience - from signing up to fundraising to going abroad. I've had such an amazing time abroad, and the travelteer team and other volunteers were all so kind and fun. The volunteering itself was very gratifying, and the people we worked with in Nepal were lovely to get to know. I'm definitely going to come back again!

Sri Lanka is a beautiful place to…

Sri Lanka is a beautiful place to visit. Travelteer gave me the opportunity to see it. The tour they offer is an incredible experience - I would recommend to anyone to sign up to it. My tour would not have been what it was without Camila, our tour guide. Not only was she informative, well culturered, and enthusiastic, she also ensured the groups safety and made sure that everyone felt comfortable. This support continued once we arrived at the volunteer house. I will note that there a few flaws, as there always are with these Voluntourism packages. Some of the volunteering is more 'busy body work' and it is unfourtunate that we only volunteered for 4 hours a day. I also worry slightly that young children form attachments to the volunteers, who subsquently move on. I think if Travelteer raised their expectations of the volunteers, they may be surprised that people are willing to work harder and longer than what is currently offered. I think people are keen to make these differences. I am glad I chose to do it and again, I dont believe I would have had the same experience if it wasnt for Camila.

A trip to remember

I spent 4 weeks in Sri Lanka - the first doing the Coast2Coast tour and final 3 volunteering on the mental health programme. It’s been a week since I left and I miss it so much! If you’re unsure about whether to do it, just go for it - you won’t regret it. I’ve made friends for life because of Travelteer and the people involved. My tour coordinator, MJ, was incredible. She was so welcoming throughout and always got involved in every way she could, making my tour experience unforgettable. A massive thank you to MJ! I highly recommend doing the tour before volunteering because you get to know a smaller group of people before meeting everyone in the house. As part of the mental health programme we were able to watch a neurosurgery, go into a psychiatric ward, learn about Ayurveda, play with children in an orphanage (the happiest group of children I’ve ever met) and more. It wouldn’t have been the same without Bernie as the coordinator for this programme. She was dedicated and acted on feedback (e.g., allowing us to plan and complete tasks with the children). Moreover, she was kind and always encouraged us to get involved in everything, whether that be learning more about therapies used in Sri Lanka or going full out to learn a dance that was initially only intended for the children to learn. The children and staff at the orphanage loved that fact that we did this with them! A massive thank you to Bernie! After each day of volunteering there are always activities to take part in, from quiz nights to pool parties, which are great to get to know everyone. The only thing I’d say is that there was less time spent volunteering than advertised by Travelteer. Regardless, I had an amazing time. Thank you to the coordinators, cooks and everyone else in the Travelteer house for making this a trip to remember.

The trip of a lifetime

The trip of a lifetime, if you’re considering it then do it. I had the best time and I’m already wanting to go back. I spent 5 weeks in Sri Lanka and loved every minute. I spent my first week doing the tour which I would 100% recommend to everyone, it’s a jam packed week and you get to experience Sri Lanka in all its beauty before starting your volunteering. It’s a great way to see the country and to meet people. My tour coordinator, Camila, was absolutely incredible every step of the way, even when we returned to the travelteer house after tour and my experience wouldn’t have been the same without her. I did the mental health programme for the duration of my 4 weeks and it was the most enriching and eye opening thing that I’ve done. Through it you get to do a variety of things such as visiting an orphanage to play/interact with the children there and also improve their living facilities, visit the hospital to shadow psychiatrists and learn about Ayurveda. By far, my favourite parts were going to the orphanage (these kids are the most adorable humans ever) and the Ayurvedic sessions ran by Dr Nalika who was amazing. A big thankyou goes to her. Bernie, my programme coordinator did an incredible job. She always made sure everything within the programme ran smoothly, she was kind and understanding and always listened to you to try and make sure to the best of her abilities that everyone was happy. I don’t think I’d have enjoyed my experience as much without her. A huge thankyou to all of the team in Sri Lanka.

Truly a trip of a life time

Truly a trip of a life time. I have absolute faith that the organisers have their volunteers best interests at heart. They have clearly invested a lot time in making sure their volunteer projects are reaching the communities in most need. The whole experience is geared at helping you learn more about the culture while also benefiting the people that are hosting you.

Nepal

Amazing trip for my students, full of new experiences and opportunities. They will all grow in to more well-rounded adults as a result. My students volunteering was incredible to watch. Excellent ethics of the company, Laurence S and T had an excellent balance of friendly yet professional. Very well organised from travelteer, enhanced by the exceptional staff on the ground including Tanka, Ming, Paula,Jason and especially Wangda- who was incredibly insightful and was vital for visiting Nepal. Thanks Laurence’s - I also personally had a great time too!

Had the best time in Nepal 🇳🇵

Had an amazing once in a lifetime experience in both Morocco and Nepal with Travelteer. Felt completely safe and relaxed knowing that everything is planned and thought out. Both the Lawrence's are super friendly and both trips are packed with activities including zip wires, safari's and plenty more. Eating at fancy restaurants as well as in the homes of a Nepalese family in the pokhara mountains. The highlight will always be volunteering with the local school children and diving into the culture and food. Would definitely reccomend to anyone wanting to see more of the world in a more enriching way than your typical holiday. Learnt so much about myself and the world around me and will definitely remember these trips forever :)
