A-level Maths: Valuable skills learned
The help with A-level maths is of good quality. The first session I did was going through exam questions that I had done and didn't understand. Whether my question was a small 2 marker question or a longer 10 marker, I learnt a lot of valuable skills that I hope to use in my exams.

Amazing Tutor
My Math tutor Zakir doesn't only focus on making sure i get the question correct but he makes sure i understand the why on each step to be taken so i will be able to answer many different questions. 10/10 reccomend
This was a lovely experience.
I was a bit nervous for the first session, as I was not sure what the tutor would be like. First session was just kind of mapping out what I know and not know. No judgement at all, and the tutor was very understanding. Very patient as well, as I completed the questions given.
The tutors were very skilled at…communication
The tutors were very skilled at engaging you in the activity and clearly explaining the topics in a simple way

Poor Tutoring (Review 1)
I purchased a 30-hour package from this company. I thought it was a good idea because the hours seemed versatile and flexible. After I purchased the package, I was given a choice of tutors to select from. They had videos presenting themselves. Some of the tutors seemed entirely boxed up and suppressed in aspects of their personalities. I chose the tutor who appealed to me the most. On paper, he had the grades and UCAT score and was studying at Cambridge University. I wanted to use Medic Mind for Chemistry tutoring. So I was having sessions with him studying chemistry for a resit. I think he was studying Medicine in year 1. So, I had sessions, and I was absolutely disgusted. Medic Mind had prepared slides for him; basically, he just went through the slides and repeated what the slides had said. He had forgotten his whole chemistry syllabus. The slides were a safe bet for the tutoring session as he could read them and then act as if he knew what he was talking about. I also remember that he was even teaching another exam board, which was even more unprofessional as he didn’t have slides for Edexcel!! I don’t blame him at all for forgetting the content. He told me later that they don’t study much chemistry at university. So I can empathise that it is only natural for him to forget content that is irrelevant to him. But it was still totally unprofessional. I seemed to know more than him, and the guy was just bluffing his way through. And if I had a question, he would basically have to figure it out himself. I gave him several questions, and he just didn’t know the answer at all. Or he would blame the question for being weird or strange as an act of denial of his own stupidity. He would have to figure out the answer using the content he had just read from the PowerPoint. A lot of times, he would just say that he didn’t know, laugh it off, and move on. Eventually, enough was enough. Medic Mind's website looks professional, and they seem to have this whole format and system. And they definitely had PowerPoint for the tutors. I am sure they select their tutors. And I don’t think it is too expensive; the tutors are students. But the quality is appalling. What I have noticed, too, is that tutors tend to have the ability to teach everything. So it's like they can just teach anything and are meant to have the capacity to do so. No superhuman can do that. that. Another tutoring company I spoke to afterwards had tutors specialised in specific fields rather than a tutor who could do BMAT, UCAT, all A-levels, PS, Interviews, etc… I had asked this chemistry tutor from Medic Mind to help me with PS. He sent me his, but the guy just gave generic advice. The company is totally unprofessional. In the end, I just had many credits—I imagine over 25 hours—that will expire. I don’t think they would honour a refund at all. I write this so that you, as a reader, can look at the company yourself and feel into it. They will give you their statistics but feel into whether you honestly think that this company is just trying to cover all aspects and so maximise its customer base and employ student tutors. Feel into how specialised the tutors would be or whether they are absolutely clueless and teaching things that they have no idea about at all. Also, just because someone scores high in a subject doesn’t mean they can teach it! With my tutor, I imagine he crammed in for his chemistry exam, so he had forgotten it as it was only in his short-term memory. When he was teaching me, he remembered the very basic parts, which were more GCSE level, but the A-level stuff he had just forgotten. I hope this helps!!! UPDATE: Following my review a member of Study Mind, contacted me. He wanted to understand my experience and also offer an apology. I appreciated his apology and his time to speak to me. I feel like they have some process where if I had informed Medic Mind about the poor tutoring earlier, they would have looked into it and found another tutor. He agreed that the tutoring I had was unprofessional. It was kind of him to offer a small compensation. He also did want me to update my original review. I am writing this for myself. Apparently, he said I had hurt some of the members of Medic Mind with my original review. So, he wanted me to change some of the language and bump up the review score. (Also, if I had hurt some members and then used that energy to drive this review, that would almost be a sort of guilt trip, so it’s not really a healthy excuse for me to write this review. It is a very unhealthy form of pressure). See next review for more as run out of number of characters...
