Unclear/misleading online application process

Beware when going through an online application and using other accreditations as a deem to satisfy. Smas will issue there accreditation upon successful completion however it will run inline with the deem to satisfy. Our Chas runs out in July and will be renewed for another year, smas however have charged the full amount of the premium for only 4 months. Our smas certificate will now expire in July and they are looking for a new application if we want to renew. The information is/was not made clear to us during the application process. Smas have offered no resolve and/or options, pretty clear just another provider offering a health and safety accreditation with no objective other than to make more cash..

SAMS Application

Our SMAS was due to expire at the end of the month, I therefore completed the online application and within a couple of days of them having received it we passed and I have the certificate.

Very quick turnaround in submitting our application and also good to receive a call from them asking if we need any assistance. Shame we can't say the same about other organisations like them

The renewal process was quite involved but clear

The renewal process was quite involved, but had clear details regarding what was required and the on-line platform itself was very robust and able to take uploaded documents quite easily. We did need to engage with one of the SMAS assessors who was both clear in his explanation of what further information was requited and very helpful with any questions that we had. We are almost looking forward to doing it all again next year !
