Despite a CDN Credit Score of 802, Still Declined!
The ONLY reason I applied with them and not PetCare (my usual go to, who have no problem with lending me money) is that, unfortunately, my vet only uses them! My credit rating/score (in Canada) is an 802; which is above average & considered excellent. I am disabled & only get a government pension, so my annual "income" is under $20k. When I questioned why I was declined, this is what they told me: "Unfortunately, your yearly income did not meet our requirements. We regret to inform you that our application process is automated, and we don't have any exceptions to the process." The company and the way they "process" applications is horrible! They need to have their "income requirements" posted clearly, so people don't waste their time giving them their sensitive financial information. My pets & I are lucky, in that I was only applying to, hopefully, get a lower interest rate than my credit card (which has a current credit limit of almost $10k); so my dog with cancer can still get his lifesaving operation. I feel for others who won't be so lucky. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to NEVER use or apply with them.

The good and the bad
The good: I was able to get a loan for a whopper vet bill to cover it until my pet insurance claim was processed. At the point I had my reimbursement from insurance, I was going to pay off the full balance. ScratchPay, in the loan terms, states you can do that. The bad: 1) Yeah, you apparently cannot pay off the full balance. There is no way to do that to be found on their website. It's monthly payments or nothing. Given the reviews of the nightmare screw ups with the payment plan, I DO NOT want to go that route. Nor did I ever intend to carry months and months of payments. So now I am going to have to call them and throw the terms of the loan agreement in their faces, and likely have to initiate action with the state attorney general, etc., to get them to adhere to their stated policies/loan agreement. 2) They gleefully set you up with debit card/credit card payments as the default. Then, if you happen to go online to make a payment, you will discover that they charge 2.5% payment processing fees per payment. So, if I COULD pay my balance in full, that's cash and prizes of over $125. Fine print: you can use ACH, but there's no way to actually pay the whole bill off. 3) They take money they don't apply to your account. Fortunately for me, it's only $15 so far, but I do not want to be in the position of being forced to make payments instead of paying off in full because I have little confidence that they will actually CREDIT that money to my account. So, it was nice to have the option because my total vet bill was $10000. Original estimate was $15,000. Care credit covered about half the bill. ScratchPay covered the rest. Insurance reimbursed me for $7500 of it. So ScratchPay helped save my dog. But holy cow, they are turning into a nightmare to deal with.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY SET YOU UP WITH AUTOPAY BUT NO PAYMENTS WILL PROCESS BECAUSE OF SERVER ISSUES. THEY ADD LATE FEES AND YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO PAY BECAUSE OF SERVER ISSUES. THEN THEY THREATEN TO SEND YOU TO THE CREDIT COLLECTORS AND YOU STILL CANNOT PAY BECAUSE OF SERVER ISSUES.

Bait and Switch
Bait and switch. These crooks advertise one deal and then it is magically not actually available but one with triple the interest is available. Don't trust dishonest companies like this one.

Scratch pay was a lifesaver in helping my four-legged family member. I was approved for the Take 5 plan. It helped out financially, allowing me to make smaller payments with no interest. It is easy to make online payments. I would highly recommend Scratch pay. I am very grateful to you. My Pup and I thank you!

Not processing online payment correctly
We used scratchpay for a recent vet surgery. I decided to pay the bill in full. This was on Friday, July 15 2022. The payment that was processed was only the first digit of the total payment. I called and they said it was a known issue and they were working to resolve it. I tried to make the payment today, July 19, 2022 and had the same issue. I again called and had to make the payment online. When they quoted my the payoff, the amount was off by 1 cent compared to what was shown online and I was told thats OK. For a company that is in the business of granting loans and then not being able to process a payment correctly, seems a little sketchy to me.

I am so angry my ears are literally ringing ! This place along with Brident Dental in Fort Worth Texas are complete scammers. I went to get a cleaning WITH MY INSURANCE . These people manipulated me and basically created me an invoice of 1000s of dollars. After realizing what happened within 24 hours I canceled the contract signed the canceled contract. Paid out of pocket for the half mouth cleaning that was rendered and was told that it takes a few weeks to get the contract canceled but that it would be done. Today I get an alert that ScratchPay has placed this loan/contract in my credit report . I am furious and will be seeking legal counsel! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT USE SCRATCHPAY. THEY WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE .

Scratchpay 10/10
I cannot say enough good things about scratchpay. It allows me to separate my dogs vet bills into separate payments with no additional fees. It also gives me peace of mind knowing that it a catastrophic accident were to occur, and I did not have the funds on hand to pay for the procedure, scratchpay would have my back. My dog is my world, so knowing that there is something like scratchpay out there takes a lot of stress off of me.
