What hospital are you on about
What hospital are you on about? I’m in England.
Gozdë Hospitals in Izmir are amazing!!
I travelled with my wife in April 2023 for her to have a gastric sleeve and I have to say Gozdë Hospital in Izmir were excellent! They picked us up with others in a decent minibus and straight to the hotel. The rest of the day was our own. Then the next day tests etc and then her op! I had food myself from them 3 times a day in the hospital and to be fair I quite liked it. I adore bulgar wheat it’s so nutty and has a nice bit of bite to it. It was hospital food after all not a Michelin Star restaurant for gods sake!!! Her treatment was great and everything went well. The staff and Docs were great especially Dr Arslan. She’s home now and has lost 6 stone! I myself then went over to Izmir with Gozdë and had initial dental work done, implants etc then back last September to finish the job! The ladies looked after me and were awesome! I now have lovely teeth and they looked after me exceptionally! Don’t listen to the nay sayers they are a good hospital chain and for me all went well! The coordinators to the hotel staff were all great. Even when I couldn’t eat properly half way through my last dental sessions the hotel sent out for a special meal for me ( you can order food in the hotel ) but none of this was in the menu and it came in a pickle jar of this amazing tomato soup with melty cheese in it with soft bread rolls which was obviously home made and was absolutely gorgeous! Talk about going the extra mile!! I had to stay a few days later cause the guy who actually made my teeths wife went into labour which was hilarious in a way but he came back and finished them for me he was brilliant! NOW, I’m going over again next week to have some surgery with the lovely Gozdë people in Izmir so that’ll be 3 times for me and 1 for my wife. So if this company were so bad then I think they would’ve been found out by us by now! The whole hospital is beautiful and the “budget” one is lovely too! Believe me, I can’t rate them highly enough! I’ll do another review when I get back after next week! Thanks for reading, Conor D, West Wales
Gastric sleeve, female travelling without a companion
Immediately after contacting Gozde I was put in contact with a great coordinator, Mert, who answered all of my questions and then some! I was worried about travelling alone but I was quickly reassured and booked the surgery; i selected the premium hospital and Dr Ergin Arslan to perform the surgery. Upon arrival to Turkey I struggled a little to find the transfer provider at the airport (arrived close to midnight so the booth was not manned) but as soon as I contacted Mert and travel coordinator Nilsu, I was on the way to hotel. (Ensure you have access to data whilst at the airport to ring the team). On the day of surgery I arrived at the hospital to be welcomed by Hamyet, lovely translator who ensured to explain the process of the surgery and beyond whilst we took a tour around the hospital for pre-op testing. Some further premium options were discussed, such as removal of gallstones if present (£500), better quality staples (£250) and removal of hernia if present on the stomach ( this is non negotiable if present and an extra £500 but there is an option to pay up to a month after surgery upon return home if you have no funds available on the day, which is nice to know). Once all the tests were completed I settled in my hospital room, right across form the nurses station which I found very helpful travelling alone. Dr Arslan met with me right before endoscopy and I was transferred straight to the operating room after the test. He also visited every day to check in, so did Hamyet. I was prepped by a lovely female nurse and assisting surgeon, which put me at ease. Surgery was very quick. Waking up from surgery it's not advised to get up for some 4 hours. The nurses ensured I was given painkillers as the first couple of hours can be painful and I felt a little sick but as soon as the painkillers and anti sickness medication kicked in the experience was bearable. The nurses were the kindest and most caring team I have ever experienced. They regularly checked on me and if I pressed the button I never waited longer than a couple of minutes for them to come in to see to me which I found very reassuring. Most nurses spoke English and if not there was a translator on duty at night who attended every time the nurses did, no language barrier issues at all. On day 1 post op the pain was down to half, I was walking without issues continuing on painkillers and other medication. Patients are given a drink of blue liquid to ensure there's no issues with leakage. The liquid made me sick, and it does not come off clothing so ensure you wear something disposable just in case! Soon after I could drink water and juice, the pain steadily decreased and the sick feeling passed all together. Day 2 the patients are provided with the protein shake and a booklet on nutrition plan as well as a package of medication to take home, I also had the benefit of going over the plan with Hamyet and dietician to ensure I had the opportunity to ask questions. On day 3 following eating a few spoonfuls of a soup, in a way tripple checking there is no leak, the drain is removed. It feels like a gentle pull lasting maybe 5 seconds, contrary to my fears, not painful at all thanks to the skilled hands of the nursing team! Following an opportunity to shower (which cannot be done prior to drain removal- you may want to arm yourself with dry shampoo) a transfer to the hotel was arranged. At the hotel I ordered a bariatric soup (£4.95, card payments don't cause an issue) and popped to the local supermarket for some supplies -apple juice, milk etc (water is provided). On day 3 the pain is down to no need for painkillers. Thank you to all the team for such a well organised pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend!
Something to smile about!
So I had a scale and polish done here. Was out getting my gastric sleeve and popped by to get my teeth touched up. They offer a comprehensive service and it's very clean and the staff are super friendly. English speaking too. Definitely worth a look. Thanks to Gokçen and the team for their incredible and speedy service.

Combined FDL tummy tuck, Breast lift and Arm lift at Ozel Saglik with Dr Ascioglu
My coordinator Piril has been with me every step of the way including visiting me at hospital. She has been there for all my questions for over a year before I had surgery. Everything was planned perfectly and communicated to me in perfect English. On the day of surgery I was assisted by Yagmur who really helped me understand what was going to happen and made me feel in really safe hands. My surgeon took time to listen to me, what I wanted and then explained my options and manage my expectations. He was attentive and saw me multiple time pre and post surgery. On the ward the nurses looked after me really well and while not all of them speak English, we managed really well with google translate when needed and there were no issues. The hospital is clean, well resourced and the staff, right through to the blonde lady in the cafe, were all so helpful and attentive. I’ve had such a great experience with my plastics journey and look forward to see my final results when I have fully healed. I am 10 days post op, all wounds have closed, there is no infection and my pain is minimal.
I had a gastric sleeve and it di not work
I had a gastric sleeve done and I lost half a stone in 1 year i paid them to take out a the band, and to put in sleeve, basically remove 2 thirds of my stomach. Dr Ergin Arslan - What a surgeon!
Dr Ergin Arslan - What a surgeon, you have changed my life and what a team you have! I am 5 weeks post surgery and can honestly say my experience with this team and hospital has been extraordinary. Mert, my medical coordinator was on the ball from first contact and continues to be in touch post op. He always ensured he updated me in a timely manner and kept me on track at all times. Asset to the team! Nilsu, my travel coordinator dealt with various travel amendments quickly and without any issue. Another great asses! Ozel Saglik Hospital - Spotless and extremely modern. The staff from the nurses through to the dietitian were outstanding and nothing was ever any trouble. They kept on top of my pain medication regularly and also made sure I was always comfortable from arrival to departure. My journey to getting gastric sleeve surgery has been exceptionally positive throughout and I do not have one regret (other than wishing I did it sooner!). Having had elective surgery previously in the UK, my experience in Turkey out performed the UK on every level! Finally, just one massive THANK YOU, to Dr Arslan, his team and this hospital!
