Basement damp problem
I found out I had severe damp in my basement flat. First saw the surveyor Vlad who was most helpful, and showed empathy to what was a very worrying situation at the time. He put my mind at rest, then Tapco set to work very quickly it was sorted. Pleased with the workmanship, service and would recommend to anyone. Thanks Nicola

Had a great experience
Had a great experience. Clear detailed report with remedies outlined. John who did the work was very pleasant to deal with. The work was done to a high standard in the timeline set out. Really pleased with the whole service. A lot of attention to detail and ensuring I was happy along the way. Professional service dealing with people who knew what they were doing and communicated extremely well. I felt so at ease just left my keys with them and let them get on with it - totally trusted them based on their handling of the whole process. Thanks guys
Although I have been told that Tapco …
Although I have been told that Tapco have a reputation for being expensive I believe that the work they did for us was value for money. Having been involved in managing many projects on properties I have owned I found the Tapco team (Alan Claverly and his assistant Sam) experienced, genuine, helpful and polite. The job was finished on time and to a high standard.

This is the second time I have had to use Tapco HomeDry and I can't fault them. They are experts at what they do, very helpful and the end result is perfect.

This company was recommended to me by my surveyor to look at a dry rot and damp problem. They took a completely over the top approach to the problem, suggested the whole house was stripped of timbers, masonry treated etc and showed little understanding of how older buildings function in terms of ventilation. I would not use them again. Thanks for your sarcastic reply Tapco. The irony is the building did not need any of the 'specialist' works Tapco recommonded, in fact they would have damaged the building further and the surveyor in question said he would never recommend you again either. If anyone is reading this and want professional insight into the 'damp industry' take a look at Peter Ward on Youtube who gives objective advice. The Damp industry are basically plonkers who charge treble to do basic buidling work.
Excellent service from start to finish

I would not recommend Tapco.
I would not recommend Tapco. I purchased a semi-basement flat just over a year ago and noticed there were some damp patches in two rooms. The vendors had informed me that the flat had been damp proofed by Tapco and it was still under a twenty year guarantee. I contacted Tapco and they confirmed that such was the case and that I needed to pay them £95 +vat to have the guarantee transferred to me. This I did and then they asked for £120 +vat in order to inspect the problem. Their surveyor made tests and reported that their work was sound and there was no evidence of penetration or rising damp. 'But the walls are wet', says I. 'Ah yes, came the reply, but that's condensation'. A written report arrived stating as much and to cure the condensation their recommendation was to install a Condensation Control Unit at a cost of £980 +vat. Another area in the kitchen not covered by their guarantee could be treated at a cost of £490 +vat. At this point I had no cause to doubt Tapco so went ahead with their recommendations. Fast forward to a year later when I receive a call from my tenant saying he'd returned from a short trip to find the walls very damp and damage to a hanging picture. I called Tapco who sent out a young lad who arrived with no record of previous work. He informed me that to have a full survey on the damp problem would cost a further £120 +vat. The fact that the CCU hadn't done its job seemed irrelevant. I had no wish to go through the experience of a year ago so I didn't pursue the survey and kept my money. I'm now considering my options elsewhere. Two weeks later I received a letter from Tapco saying that the Condensation Control Unit was due for a service - to fill in the acceptance form and return with payment of £95 +vat. I decided reluctantly, as the unit cost over £1000, to have it maintained and emailed Tapco the completed form with a note saying I would pay by bank transfer on completion. Sorry, came the reply, we do require payment in advance. I replied that this was most unusual and unacceptable and would they please reconsider. I quote the reply, "I have checked with management, it is our company policy to charge for the inspection prior to attending and therefore payment is required prior to visit" So, I have paid out over £2000 to Tapco for very little in return and now they demand payment in advance for maintenance of the unit they recommended would solve the problem. From my viewpoint Tapco seem more concerned with profit and following procedure than with providing customers trust and good service. Written across their vehicles is a slogan "we are in the rotten business". Well, as far as I am concerned, that slogan is rather fitting. I won't be using them again.
