Reliable and decent

A really good business with a very upfront and thorough knowledge of their product and services, I did not feel pressured or feel like i was being sold something that I didnt need. Reliable, clean and respectful of my children whilst they were working in my home. Would 100% recommend again.

Avoid Tapcohomedry like the plague. Unprofessional and rude.

Avoid Tapcohomedry like the plague. Absolutely dreadful service and the aftercare was appalling. As other reviews have said, the MD John Milroy was rude and dismissive. We paid over the odds to add ventilation to my daughter’s flat, thinking that we were paying for the best. However, the installation was appalling. We were not advised that the vents would need external trunking, so to come back to find it had been installed literally circuiting a picture on the wall, was unbelievable. However, despite saying that he would not want that in his house, Mr Milroy seemed to think that this was perfectly acceptable for my daughter and refused to make good. In the end, after weeks of stress, we managed to get the bill somewhat reduced, but had to pay for a builder to make good the damage. I wish I could upload a photograph to show you just how bad the job was. In addition, the external vents were not as the specification, however Mr Milroy belligerently stuck to his story that they were, until we provided photographs of what he promised and what was installed. These were eventually replaced, but again only after weeks of frustration and stress. Please avoid this company at all costs.

Great team!!!

The team at Tapco were great from start to finish. From the initial booking for the survey to carrying out the works all the team members who I spoke to and met were friendly, informative and professional. My company has used Tapco many times in the past and will continue to do so.

Horrible, upsetting experience - left my home damaged and insecure

The whole process of starting the work with Tapco was pretty chaotic (emails unanswered, last minute additional costs slapped on after booking etc) but I'm normally pretty easy-going so I let it slide. I wish I'd trusted my instincts. During the work, we were out of the house as instructed (and indeed out of the country). I contacted the administrator on what was supposed to be the penultimate day of work to check how things were going, and was told the operative had actually finished the previous week, and that he'd left our house keys in a flower pot outside the door. I'd specifically asked for them to be put back through the letterbox, but my instructions had been ignored, rendering our empty house highly vulnerable to intruders, which was frightening. We didn't get to visit to see the work until nine days after it had apparently finished. When we did, we found that the walls looked horrendous as all the original 19th century skirting had been ripped off, leaving huge holes between floor and walls. Tapco's T&Cs clearly state that customers will be informed about any damage to skirting so they can decide how to proceed - no one had even attempted to contact us. When I got in touch to ask what had happened, I received no explanation but was just informed that the skirting had been disposed of and that Tapco would charge £564 to replace it. I have asked four more times what actually happened to it (there were two different kinds of skirting involved in two different locations, both have vanished) but no one has responded with this information, only repeated (and increasingly rude) attempts to get me to pay Tapco to replace it. I might have felt differently about these issues had the MD, John Milroy, made any effort to apologise or ameliorate the situation. Instead he has been consistently rude and dismissive, at one point telling me it didn't matter that the skirting had been destroyed because the house isn't listed. If you do use Tapco, I would recommend hiring an independent contractor to remove your skirting boards who doesn't have a vested interest in destroying/replacing them. And remember that if you have any issue with their operatives once they are in your home, you have absolutely no recourse. The attitude of the whole company seems very slapdash and uncaring and as a customer they just make you feel like an inconvenience. I really wish I'd just left the damp to be honest, we have a young baby and could ill afford the work to start with, let alone the extra several hundred pounds it will cost to repair the damage.

Great work by the Tapco team on our dry rot. Marlon showed extreme skill in matching existing fixtures and Dave also did a fantastic job on our Canopy. Really pleased with the excellent standard of the team and finish. They also kept the place immaculately clean! Amazing. I’d really recommend them.

Great work!

We used Tapco for both a survey on a property y we were intending to purchase and then later to complete works for us when the purchase was completed. We were really pleased with the end result. The people at Tapco couldn't have been more helpful and took numerous phone calls etc from us and came to meet us a few times in order to give advice on the works to be completed. Matt who carried out the work did a fantastic job, was really professional and tidied up following completion. I'd thoroughly recommend.

Tapco established trust through their calm approach and obvious expertise. The technical surveyor I was lucky to have been appointed to my job had a lot of experience and focused on the problem at hand specifically and practically. I very warmly recommend.

Professional job and very useful survey report

I've recently purchased a 115 year old house, and the survey showed a slight issue with damp. I'd seen Tapco's vans around, and the reviews looked good so asked for a survey, the price quoted was good and offered a refund plus a discount if the remedial work was undertaken. The report helped us to get the vendor to reduce the purchase price by the full amount. The two guys sent to carry out the work were brilliant - really keen to do top quality work and wanted me to understand why the issue has occurred and what they were doing about it. Worked very professionally and full clean up afterwards. Top marks!

Tapco did exactly what we needed

Tapco did exactly what we needed. They booked us in quickly, as it was a semi-emergency, and their engineer appeared on the dot of eight every day for two weeks. The site was left spotless.
