Visiting Tibet, great place for tour, kora and culture

Recently, my wife and I travelled to Tibet for a most enjoyable and memorable journey using the tour company, Tibet Vista. Tibet Vista - We found Tibet Vista a great company to use as they organised a well-rounded and problem-free tour. We found Tibet Vista to be professional, competent and responsible making sure that all of our needs and concerns were meet as well as all permits and documentation. Organising - Our contact person for Tibet Vista was, Kristin. She was was well-mannered, patient, professional and answered all of our questions and concerns. She did so politely and to the point. We found her to be knowledgeable and caring. Samye - We began our stay in Tibet by travelling to Samye Monastery, which is about a 2 hour drive south from Lhasa (Capital) before the start of our 16 day tour in Tibet. We found this day trip helpful as we visited Tibet's first monastery and gave us time to acclimatise to the high altitude. Tibet Vista organised the day trip with our guide Kalsang. He made it a problem-free and enjoyable trip. Kalsang was friendly and knowledgeable about Tibetan history and culture. Reason - My wife, her cousin and I reason for travelling to Tibet was to do the Tibet Vista 16 day Mt Kailash tour which included, 3 day Lhasa cultural experience and acclimatisation (very important), Everest Base Camp, the Saga Dawa festival, touching of the north face of Mt Kailash and the Mt Kailash kora. This tour was great and a first time for Tibet Vista. But, keep in mind, the kora and especially touching the north face of the Mt Kailash is not easy. To get to the north face is tough, has an element of danger and requires a certain level of fitness. Having said this, to touch Mt Kailash, is fulfilling and special, a once in a lifetime experience, and for the spiritually or religious-minded person, a deep and profound experience. Guide - Our guide for this tour was, Sonam Ten Phal. Sonam was great. He was professional, articulate, funny, caring, kind and patient. He made sure all of our needs were met and that we were all comfortable and problem-free as possible. We found Sonam to be informative and willing to share his knowledge of Tibetan culture, tradition, history and religion as well as his own personal life, family and traditions. This made our journey enjoyable and relatable. Sonam is a good conversationalist, and really made sure all of everyone's needs were met. For me and my wife, this was important as we had dietary needs (no onions and no garlic allergy), of which Sonam took care of us at restaurants and other food outlets. Sonam had good rapport with everyone in our group and no one felt left out. I would highly recommend Sonam as he is very capable, a great guide, and a good person. Drivers - A special thank you to our drivers on our journey. Our drivers were Mr Champa and Mr Fu (sifu). They did a fantastic job in making our journey as safe and comfortable as possible in our long journey. Nothing seem to phase or bother them as they were at all times courteous and whatever happened they attended to with professionalism and patience. Finally - For all those who had something to complain about the company, the guides and facilities. As a company, Tibet Vista does the best they can in a challenging environment. The company and their staff operate to give the best experience to each and every traveller. Tibet is a challenging place, experiencing fast-paced changes and is moving from old to modern. Therefore, if you are going to complain about the journey of a lifetime, then maybe you should not visit Tibet. For me and my wife, we found that Tibet Vista, their staff and guides made for a fantastic and enjoyable journey. Here's a food-for-thought moment, when visiting Tibet, go with the flow, enjoy the journey and make the most of your time in Tibet. Tibet is such a unique place to visit and life's too short to complain. Focus on the experience and not the complaint.

Could not wish for a better tour in Tibet

I would highly recommend Tibet Vista to anyone looking for a well organised tour and seemless experience leading up to the trip. Kristin is excellent at organising everything, considering everyone's needs, special requirements and enormous amount of questions. She answers all the questions promptly and where possible, even included photos. This made all the planning worry free. Our guide was Ten Phal (Sonam). He truly made this trip special, he is the most cheerful guide I ever had a pleasure meeting, all while keeping it professional, ensuring everyone is looked after and taken care off. His knowledge and willingness to share with the group anything from local history to his family traditions made this experience very special. I would like to add that I disagree with negative comments left on this site, it's important to note that you need to appreciate the complexities and challenges of this region. Keep your mind and heart open, let Tibet Vista do the rest and you will have a very memorable trip!

Thank you, Sonam, for making our journey so memorable! Your dedication and expertise have left a lasting impression on our family, and we will cherish the memories of this trip for years to come.

Review for Tibet Vista: 16-Day Kailash Tour Our family of three, including our 10-year-old son, recently embarked on a 16-day Kailash tour organised by Tibet Vista, and we couldn't be more pleased with the experience. From start to finish, the trip was flawlessly planned and executed, thanks to the meticulous efforts of their team, particularly Kirstin and our guide, Sonam. Kirstin’s attention to detail during the planning phase was exceptional. She was responsive to all our queries, providing clear and comprehensive information that made us feel confident and prepared for the journey. Her dedication to ensuring all logistical aspects were perfectly arranged was evident, from our initial inquiries to the final itinerary. Sonam, our guide, was the heart of the tour. His knowledge of the region, combined with his genuine warmth and professionalism, made our experience truly memorable. He was attentive to our needs, ensuring our 10-year-old son was comfortable and engaged throughout the journey. Sonam's deep understanding of local culture and history enriched our experience, making each day’s adventures educational and enjoyable. The itinerary was thoughtfully crafted, balancing rigorous trekking with periods of rest and cultural immersion. The sacred Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar were undoubtedly the highlights, and experiencing these sites with such thorough support allowed us to fully appreciate their spiritual and natural beauty. Accommodations were comfortable, transportation was reliable, and every detail was handled seamlessly, allowing us to focus on the experience itself. Tibet Vista provided us with an unforgettable family adventure. Their commitment to excellence, personalised service, and the exceptional guidance from Sonam made our 16-day Kailash tour a trip of a lifetime. We highly recommend Tibet Vista to anyone seeking a well-organised, enriching, and worry-free travel experience in Tibet. Thank you, Tibet Vista, Kirstin, and Sonam, for making this journey so special!

My Tibetan trip

I am reviewing my recent 10 day trip to Tibet. I was a solo traveler and my guide was Kelsang Dorje. We visited Lhasa and the monasteries of Joklong temple and Potala Palace. I then did the trip to Everest Basecamp. The weather was good and the sights of Mt Everest was phenomenal. I had to travel with a broken bone in my foot. Kelsang was an excellent guide. He always made sure I was safe and helped as needed He was extremely informative of Tibetan culture and the Tibetan people. I had an excellent experience and recommend this trip and guide to all Thank you Teri Richards Amico

Hidden cost of the Tibet tour

I recently traveled with this agency and was extremely disappointed with the experience. Despite being assured that all costs were included in the package, I encountered numerous unexpected additional charges throughout the trip. These costs were not clearly communicated upfront, and I felt misled. The lack of transparency and surprise expenses significantly marred what could have been an enjoyable experience. I would not recommend Tibet Vista to anyone looking for a straightforward and honest travel company.

Unique experience at lake Namtso and Lhasa with Gelek

We really enjoyed our trip starting with the train ride from Xining to Lhasa and we're warmly welcomed by our guide Gelek. He was very knowledgeable about Tibet and Buddhism and could tell us a lot about the temples around Lhasa. We also visited Lake Namtso with him and gad a very nice experience in a small group. We highly recommend Gelek and Tibet Vista as everything run smoothly and we had a very enjoyable experience and gelek took care about our needs! Ramona & Romeo

Tibet Vista failed to deliver a comfortable and enjoyable tour

My trip to Tibet with Tibet Vista was extremely disappointing. The vehicles were overcrowded, making the journey very uncomfortable. With so many people, I couldn't hear the guide clearly in crowded places, which ruined the experience. I wouldn't recommend Tibet Vista to anyone.

Best guide!

Our guide, Sonam, made this experience very enjoyable. He made sure we all had everything we needed. He was cheerful friendly and helpful throughout the whole trip. His in depth knowledge of the customs and traditions of Tibet and its landscape made the whole thing very interesting. He took us to great places to eat and was always ready to help with translating, any issues we had were dealt with quickly and efficiently and with a smile. All round a really great guide.

Choose this trek and guide with confidence

I have been in the high mountains before, and have organzied trips from Alaska to India and many places in between. The tour guide for this trip Mr. Sonam Temple, was at the very top of his cohort. From his boundless energy, always wiling to solve issues, to his explanations of religious sites, to dealing with every memeber of the group in a very polite, enthusiastic and professional manner he always excelled. We went to sites in Lhasa, went to EBC (Everest Base Camp), did the Kailash Kora, and visited lake Manasarovar. We had members from Germany, Italy, UK, Canada, USA, India, China, Russia and Australia in our group. A very diverse group and he individually made sure that our concerned were addressed and even physically assisted some memebers complete the Kora. He definitely goes above and beyond what I expected of a tour guide. All the members of the group were wonderful and made the experience better but Mr. Sonam’s attitude was the gel that made little headaches, that happen at altitude, become beautiful experiences and not reasons for friction. In addtion he is good photographer with a good camera and took very good impromptu, in the moment photos of the group. You can see a few below. I have guided expeditions and hands down he is better than me :). We had fantastic weather throughout and clear views of the mountains.

Office agent Ms Amy

Office agent Ms Amy, we found is in-experienced for the job and too busy with too much work given to her to give attentions to her customers. Sli could see she works late hours and at latter stage of our trip. Many things we were not told to decide, and missed. But the guide provided Ms Joy did a excellent job for the group. She was very helpful going out of the way make our trip comfortable.
