The perfect Tutor for ME!

I've never had a tutor. But I decided to get one for my certification as it's been a few years since I've had to study. My tutor Dale was divinely chosen for me. I'm grateful to have met her and learn so much about useful study tips. I feel very confident going to my exam, because my tutor spoke life into me And gave me the confidence in test taking, I never thought I'd have.

I just cancelled the membership

I was using Varsity tutor for my 5 years old daughter. She can’t focus yet for 1 full hour and i request to do for 30 minutes session and i was told was perfectly fine, in-fact my contract specify 30 minutes sessions. I just cancelled the membership. They are charging me the cost of 1 hour for a 30 minutes session. I called the costumer service and they did’t help. Basically I payed for a service I never used. It was one of the worst experience with an online platform that I have ever had. I strongly recommend to think twice before enrolling.

Terrible

Terrible. Truly awful. The services promised by this company are not at all what is delivered. They promise to provide expert tutors in their fields and match you with someone. My daughter was never matched to anyone as promised. What really seems to happen (as mistakenly revealed by a service agent) is that the company puts out “all points bulletins” asking “Who wants this job?” We needed Spanish 2 and executive function tutors. I paid $499 for 10 hours of tutoring for a month. We asked for a Spanish tutor on Sunday due to my child’s IEP and homework schedule. The tutor agreed, and then texted me he couldn’t do Sunday after all. So we bent to his schedule. How did he get my personal cell #?? He did not contact me through their website. Att he session he checked my child’s homework and she got a B, which made me suspicious about his expertise. This was “form” homework used in Spanish 2 classes across the nation, which is auto-graded by a computer system. He did not know his material exceptionally well. And this is only Spanish 2, not AP. This tutor also failed to cancel a session leaving my child sitting in front of her computer and waiting for 40 minutes. He didn’t let her know through the site or even bother to cancel. Instead, he texted me again at the time her session was starting, stating he was “in a meeting.” But I was in a pool swimming at the gym without my phone! My husband was at home. So my daughter just sat there. Then that tutor just totally disappeared. They tried replacing this tutor with someone with an associate's degree (not in Spanish) from a community college and no teacher certifications. I declined. The third tutor emailed and complained to me on the Varsity platform that she lost other jobs because she accepted my daughter as a client (?) and then she also didn't respond to my communications. They assigned my high school student an executive function tutor with materials meant for an elementary-age student, with fairies all over the pages. And 13 pages of instructions to read. For a teen with ADHD. This is only 3 weeks!! I called 5 times times and gave them 2 weeks to rectify everything. I had to speak with a different customer service agent each time, and repeat the saga. I canceled the service 2 days ago. Yesterday I called and asked why it is not canceled online and still on auto-renew. They said a supervisor would get back to me in 24–48 hours. By then my service will have auto-newed! I also asked for a refund for the remaining 5 hours. They said it was not their policy. It was still on auto-renew this morning. Thankfully I charged this to AmEx, which is very good with FRAUD. I had to cancel my AmEx card and order a new card due to the auto-renew. I have reported all of this debacle to AmEx for a $250 refund for unrendered services. Nightmare. Total nightmare.
