I like that all tutors sessions are recorded and you are able to replay it. The videos helps with studying. Also, I like the flexibility of tutors adjusting their schedules to accommodate our sports schedule.

She has a knowledge of mathematic and she is helping My Daugther to build her mathematics knowledge This is our next year having tutor for My Daugther and she is very happy each year with her mathematic tutors. They are all good teachers and understanding the children’s problem.

SAT tutoring

I had Bhavana as my SAT tutor! She was amazing, very smart and helped walk me through all of the problems. I recommend her if you need any SAT help!

This company is predatory

I'm only giving one stars because there's no option to give zero. Like many of these reviews have stated, the initial phone call I had with them went great, I really felt like my concerns were addressed, but they pressured me into signing up with them and paying 500 dollars, telling me how they are so highly rated. I shouldn't have fallen for it. They assured me that they had tutors who were well-versed in the subject I needed tutoring on (Game Theory), but the first tutor they gave me didn't even know how to solve the problems I put in front of him - it even got to the point where I was explaining to HIM some of the problems that I barely knew how to do. It turns out that he was well-versed in ECONOMICS, but not specifically game theory, even though I specifically requested someone who was well-versed in Game Theory and made it very clear that the class was a Game Theory class and not an Economics class with a Game Theory component. I called and requested a new tutor, and my next tutor did not respond to any of my messages (even after I contacted her through email), never confirmed sessions that I had to reschedule, and did not show up to the confirmed sessions. I don't even know if she was well-versed in Game Theory because I never got to speak with her. Probably going to end up withdrawing from the course because I wasted so much time with this company to not get any help whatsoever, and I'm still struggling.

No Shows (Updated review)

Teachers were no shows and also cancelled last minutes. One had us waiting for 20 minutes on hold while she was having a meeting with her supervisor. Final straw was they wouldn’t refund me the month in which there were no shows. They gave me credit to endure another month of poor service instead so I ran away as fast as I could. Tutors don’t seem to care. This is a side gig for most. If you have a good reliable tutor that’s great but we had a terrible experience with two different ones. --- UPDATE NOV 15 --- Rating changed from 1-star to 4-stars Kind Customer Service folks at Varsity Tutor contacted me and issued a refund. I appreciate that very much.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Varsity Tutors. I received online tutoring support for university statistics and did not gain any value from my services. My first tutor was just not a good fit for me. However, the second was frankly, not good. There were times where he told me he did not know the answer, would flip the question back onto me, or appeared confused after I asked him something. Thus, I left the sessions feeling more confused than when I entered. My poor experiences led me to cancel my membership. I did not use any of my sessions in October, however, I was still charged for the whole month and not refunded. They told me that I was still able to use my hours until November 2nd, however, I don’t see why I would want to, after my negative experiences. It’s a shame that my experience was so poor with this company and that I lost a whole month of tutoring/money. This company is supposed to be “high quality tutors”, yet my experience was extremely questionable. In my opinion, this tutors lack of knowledge and professionalism was evident.
