Avoid SafetyWing
Avoid SafetyWing – Misleading Policies and Poor Service!! I strongly advise against using SafetyWing. Even if you provide the documentation they request, they will find loopholes to deny your claim and keep asking for more until there’s nothing you can do. For example, I went to the local police station twice to get a report for a stolen item. Despite providing the standard documentation issued by the authorities, SafetyWing refused to accept it, claiming it lacked details that local authorities simply cannot include. They make the process impossible, clearly showing they have no intention of honoring legitimate claims. To make matters worse, their customer service is unhelpful and difficult to reach. Calls disconnect instantly, and my concerns in appeals were ignored. Based on my experience and many reviews online, they seem more focused on finding ways to deny claims than providing reliable coverage. Save yourself the frustration and go with an insurance company that offers clear policies, fair processes, and responsive service.

Way too expensive, avoid if you can
An 8 day single trip was way too expensive, almost the same as my YEARLY specialist scuba/free diving insurance worldwide cover. Not even confident it will give me the proper surfing cover but this is the one the surf company prefer us having. Will not book again though.

A great brand, spoiled by the transition from AXA to Collinsons. Avoid like the Plague.
C&P from a Collinson’s insurance review I just left. Incredibly disappointing that a company that charges a premium for travel insurance can move from a good insurance provider (AXA) to a truly atrocious one (Collinson’s) after building a loyal customer base built on the trust that World Nomads were truly a premium, elite, insurance provider. I can only hope that somehow World Nomads is unaware of the vile, predatory, bullying treatment their loyal customers are receiving, and that they soon realise this and right the wrong of switching to Collinsons. “I have 2 unresolved claims with Collinson (Claim Refs: 692061 & 691333). They have been open for almost two months each. Collinson have ignored me consistently, and asked me to provide, re-provide, and re-re- provide the exact same documents over and over in an attempt to stall/dissuade me from continuing my claim. Their industry reputation should have stopped me from choosing them. I took out travel insurance via World Nomads, a company I used to be happy to pay a premium with to get the best quality insurance from, but has recently changed providers from AXA to Collinson. The resultant downgrade in customer treatment and respect is outrageous. I will be informing World Nomads of this exceptional drop in quality. I recommend all to just insure via AXA in future, as they actually treat their customers with respect. Please know that Collinsons will ILLEGALLY invent terms and conditions and try to bully you out of claiming. One example - my contract clearly states that if my passport is “lost” and I miss a flight as a result, that I was entitled to compensation. My claim for this exact case was denied, and I had to call up Collinsons to read out my own contract to them. At this point, they used a completely fabricated definition of the word lost (saying that nothing can be described as lost if you manage to find it at a later date, even if it was lost at the point in time of the claimable event occurring). After months of stalling and no contact, I will now be filing a formal complaint with Financial Ombudsman Service.”

WorldNomads is now a scam unfortunately
WorldNomads used to be a great brand name for travellers. Now they have outsourced all their policies in UK and Ireland to Collinson you might as well avoid them. You will lose money paying for a dud policy that they won't pay you for valid claims. They will also waste months of your time with no outcome. You might as well go with the Post Office or Tesco or something. After months of stalling and no contact, I will now be filing a formal complaint with Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) against Collinson and WN. I have 2 unresolved claims with them as I had to log separate claims for a missed flight and lost baggage. Claim REF: 691573 and 692050 If you choose to go with this insurance provider, please know their awful industry reputation. I have filed two fairly straightforward claims, and they have made me jump through ridiculous hoops and invented new rules. I contested these requirements as they are unlawful since they are not in any contract I have with them. They make up terms and conditions as they go, so you will need to save down your terms and conditions / contract somewhere so that you can refer to it and fight them off with their nonsense additions. For those of you with unresolved claims - they are undergoing review by the ombudsman already so do not hesitate in submitting your complaint to the ombudsman too, which will show the authorities the scale of unprofessional and consumer abuse behaviour being exhibited at Collinson.

Very easy to sign up
Very easy to sign up, I had my policy shortly after I completed filling out the online form. One suggestion: make it easier to find answers quickly, e.g. do you need to return home between trips? took me ages to find the answer.
