constantly behind bookkeeping and they couldn't care less
I paid thousands of dollars for Bench bookkeeping and tax filing for two years. I paid monthly. They were regularly 5 months behind on bookkeeping. You can't make any business decisions on this. Just terrible service. And when I'd challenge them on these delays they came across as if I was the crazy one for asking. Nothing ever changed. They'd wait weeks or months before acting on categorizations I'd specify. They changed bookkeepers on me every few months. They constantly over-promised tax filing dates and the miscommunication between bookkeeping department and tax department caused weeks and weeks of delay. My tax advisor had the gall to blame me in snide remarks for these delays. I do not recommend Bench accounting. I moved to Wave Apps and have never been happier with a bookkeeper.

Bench does a great job! It's really set it and forget it, knowing that your business is in good hands. The communication is quick and professional!
Need to be reported to the IRS
Terrible company and customer service. They will be late on filing your taxes, not file your tax extension on time and cost you endless hours of stress. Someone needs to report them to the IRS.
This “team” is a joke
This “team” is a joke. They were more than 6 months late completing my books, and kept sending them back to me with new “missing” information. They just stall and stall and keep telling you that they are “working on it.” It is very ob ious that they are not.
Bench was good, now they suck.
I've been using Bench for the last 4 years for my small business. I actually had 2 business books with them. I chose them over using local unreliable book keepers and also over Quickbooks because they made it a lot easier. It used to be really great. All that's changed in the last year. I don't know if it's because they're trying to use more AI to categorize transactions, or they offshore the books to low wage workers? But they told me they use a new "Team" approach. That was the explanation I got when I asked why things are so different and worse than they were in the past. Now, when I ask my account manager about a charge or how to fix something they don't have any answer at all. After my good account manager was transferred away or quit last year, I got a new person - Arfah. She literally couldn't get anything done. Couldn't figure anything out. She was useless. Then, I complained and got a new person, Taryn. I had higher hopes for her, but nope. Same thing. They can't seem to finish my books from 2023 and it's now June 30th 2024. I've been working at getting them done since Jan/Feb 2024. I've been responsive in getting my info in, all my accounts are connected. So It's been like 6 months of me messaging Bench, "okay, we need to get the books closed out" etc. But they keep dragging their feet. Or they say sorry, we are using the new Team approach and we're waiting for something from the team. Whatever the "Team" approach means to them, to me it means Bench totally sucks now. My account manager is not empowered or able to figure anything out. Any meaningful work needs to go to the mysterious guys in the back room. However my account manager is happy to get on a phone call with me to tell me just that. What an incredible disappointment this has been.
Try Bench, they really care about your business.
As a business owner, we all know that things go south time to time-we cannot deliver excellent service all the time to every customer. The same goes with Bench, my experience with Bench has not always been the greatest but they make sure in the end they rectify if there was an issue. Schannel Siregar is a customer care specialist at Bench and especially because of her, I am confident that things will pan out eventually regardless of inevitable hiccups. She makes sure that she doesn't drop a single concern that comes out from your mouth and very responsive and attentive. Above all, at the end of the day, what matters is whether the work is completed within the timeline and I can assure you that she gets the job done. Based on what Schannel has proven to me in terms of superb customer service, I can guarantee you that Bench got your back.
Great tool for efficiently managing your finances

Dave, my bookkeeper, is excellent and always helpful. He responds quickly and is easy to talk with. He is easy to schedule and jump on a call whenever I need assistance. I love that my tax consultant and bookkeeper are with the same company and can see real-time information whenever necessary. I have enjoyed learning alongside them, as accounting is not my forte.
