If you go on wildlife photography…try anybody but these people

If you go on wildlife photography holiday there is of course no way the company can guarantee that you will see anything - this I totally accept. However Nature’s lens promised us an animal (Wild cat) that hadn’t been seen for months and the Spanish guide absolutely knew that.. we went for Iberian lynx which had been seen the week before but didn’t show up, we understand that happens but not why the guide didn’t share the lack of lynx on the cameras and ask what we wanted to do. When we complained to Nature’s Lens we were (laughably) offered a free day in the same hides if we wanted to return to Alpsan in the future. Our promised expert did not materialise he was substituted at the last moment. The local guide was like a moody teenager (but older) who simply left us and then appeared (late most of the time) to take us back to the hotel. no questions, no observations, no discussions. On one occasion we were left in a hide for two hours longer than expected with no means of communication or transport. To add insult to injury -when we returned to the UK we took the matter up with Nature’s Lens themselves and are still waiting months later for any meaningful response. we are absolutely left with the impression that once they have your money they really don’t care. with so many competitors in this field they deserve to fail. we. Will certainly never use the. Again and will make our views known to whoever enquires.

I booked a trip with this company to …

I booked a trip with this company to photograph wild bears in Finland in June 2017. The company description of the trip was 'a unique photography excursion into the wilderness of Finland, capturing beautiful images of the impressive brown bear as it thrives in its picturesque natural habitat'. The trip was marred by flocks of 80 plus seagulls attacking and mobbing the Bears forcing them to run away into the forest and out of sight. I requested a pro rata refund on 3 of the 8 days cost for the trip, because 3 days were completely wasted, this was met by a solicitors letter from this company, advising there is a clause in their terms and conditions that states they do not guarantee that wildlife / photography subject matter will be present at any location / time, and you accept that no refunds will be made due to lack of wildlife / photography subject matter. So in a nutshell, they sell you a photography trip to photograph wildlife, but in their terms and conditions have a blanket condition which means that if the trip is no good and for any reason you don't get the trip you paid for, they don't discuss anything with you and involve a solicitor. Thier solicitor has also informed me that they estimate their costs to be between £10,000 and £15,000 and they will attempt to claim that from me if I pursue a claim against the company for the trip and have invited me to confirm that I will withdraw my notice to make a claim against them.
