Rozel Manor Saga

We dealt with Amanda Watts and at times with her assistants who were all very helpful and got back to us when asked so cannot fault them. Our purchase was a difficult one for us and Amanda as our vendoe died days before completion but we got through it. Thanks Amanda

Great home move handled by Dan and supported by Olivia. This included sale and purchase. Exchanged ahead of timeframes and completed the week later. The app is good as well to see where my case was at. Whenever I emailed for an update or clarification of what certain things meant I was always responded to promptly. 😄

A refreshingly honest and friendly approach.

Mariam has provided us with a comprehensive understanding of the complex nature of our new leases in words which we could understand. Her patient and friendly manner has shattered the stereotype of what we think of as stuffy lawyers. Her detailed knowledge and advice has clearly been invaluable to us and we remain very grateful to her and Dutton Gregory.

Kirsty Peto - Fantastic

Great experience with Dutton Gregory. My flat purchase was handled by Kirsty Peto who I must say was absolutely fantastic throughout. Her sheer efficiency and communication made this transaction as easy as it could have been for myself. Dutton gregory themselves were also great, upon dropping papers into their office I was always met with a smile which goes a long way. I would recommend this company to anyone buying/ selling property and definitely Kirsty herself.

Focused more on costs than actually providing a service that matches these costs.

We were in a situation that required legal advice with regards to CIL. We were recommended Xxxx at Dutton Gregory to assist us and a zoom meeting was set up for an initial 30min consultation, that actually lasted 45mins. At this point no fees were discussed and we assumed as with many reputable practices that the initial consultation was free, especially so as there was no talk of this prior to the zoom meeting. At this meeting xxxxx advised us all that she has no practical experience with CIL and advised that she will not read any of the information we have sent until she has sent a fact finding letter to the council, but would simply be taking yyyyy's (our CIL consultation specialist) conversation as the facts in our case. Alarm bells began ringing when she said she has no experience but reassured us that hands on experience of CIL is not required for what we needed. A couple of emails went to and fro, culminating in an email to my father in law advising she will not be able to proceed without the payment of fees upfront. We were very concerned with the lack of experience that xxxx had in CIL, so my father in law decided not to proceed with xxxx's advice, did not sign the t&c's and made no payments. Anyway, fast forward and there have been many emails hounding my recently widowed father in law for payment for a service he did not receive, did not sign OR return any of Dutton Gregory's T&C's. He has taken this to the ombudsman who are in the process of dealing with this as Dutton Gregory are aware of. But instead of waiting for a response from the ombudsman, they have decided to proceed with a court order and the fee has more than doubled. My father in law initially offered to cover the initial consultation costs because although xxxx advised she has no practical experience of CIL, she did spend time advising us that she thought a fact finding letter was the best course of action (we've since found out it isn't). They rejected this offer, claiming they have spent many hours on this case, how long does it really take to send a fact finding letter? Yet this so called letter has never been produced. I only wish we had read previous reviews on here first as 17% with 1 star reviews is a very high percentage, which indicates there are some serious problems with this company. Certainly with our experience I would never consider using them or recommending them for their services. Things they could do better: 1. Ensure they get their t&c's signed and returned prior to any engagement, this gives the client the opportunity to read and understand them before deciding a way forward. 2. Not offer to take on complicated cases where the allocated solicitor has no practical experience or real knowledge of the subject matter. 3. Make their correspondence clear and understandable to the average layman. 4. Make it clear, in writing that prior to any initial consultation that a fee is payable and what this fee will be. Additionally, as they are aware of the subject matter in advance of the initial consultation, to advise any client prior to this consultation that they do not have relevant practical experience in the subject. To ensure that the client is able to make an informed decision. It would save everyone's time. In conclusion it appears that Dutton Gregory are more concerned with charging unaccounted for fees than actually providing a service, wanting to take on a case that's outside their field of expertise and not even waiting for a response from the ombudsman prior to taking court action.

Unprofessional and negligent.

Conveyancing disaster. Did not respond to emails. Did not follow through on indemnity insurance issue. Neglected to register the property purchase with land registry, which is the final step to confirm ownership.
