Very helpful mentor and community

My mentor has been so helpful in patiently explaining the maths and physics questions I am stuck each week, as well as reassuring me when I am stressed, and answering other questions on uni life and working in industry. I feel so grateful to have access to my mentor as I know that whenever I need to talk about anything I can ask someone who has experience and knowledge to help me. This is useful as he is where I want to be in a few years, so he is like a role model. He also gave me ample support in writing my personal statement and conducting mock interviews with me. If I haven’t sent him any questions in a week and he hasn’t heard from me he sends me a message to check in with me to see if there’s anything he can do. I find this motivates me to do more practise questions. Overall, my mentor has helped me in many ways with both academic and personal growth. I have also found the community section of Zero Gravity useful as it makes me feel less alone as there are others in the same boat as me.

Zero Gravity experience

Throughout my application process Zero Gravity allowed me to ask others questions and this feature I found beneficial as it not only provided me with a range of options that i hadn’t considered before, but it also helped to reassure me. In particular, it is the positive and supportive environment which Zero Gravity fosters which drew me to it when i had a question. When forming my application my mentor went above and beyond and this along with the masterclasses offered allowed me to truly understand what makes a competitive application. My mentoring sessions also helped me massively in communicating my ideas, this has not only benefited me in interviews but also has given me more confidence in general.

Good mentoring program

In September, I will be starting an integrated master's degree at Newcastle University for biochemistry, which I am very excited about. Zero Gravity has been so helpful in finding me a great mentor, Hafsah, who was one of the people who helped me the most with editing my personal statement and has given me loads of great tips and fun stories about her time at uni so far. I've also attended some masterclasses, which were helpful in retrospectively assessing what I put in my statement to make it stand out, like my extracurriculars and science projects.

Wholesome Mentoring Experience :)

My Zero Gravity mentor has played such an important role in my application, with our journey starting in Year 12, when she was a fresher too, so it’s felt all the more wholesome to watch us progress together! My mentor reassured me every step of the way, be it through personal statement checks, admissions preparations, or even just life advice regarding the transition to university itself… I leave feeling ever inspired to give back by paying it forward, to empower someone else, just like myself, to prove that their dreams really can come true! All in all, I would definitely recommend!

Zero Gravity

The zero gravity platform has been nothing but amazing! I have recommended it to so many people as it really is a platform with the kindest people and so much support. My mentor has been exceptional at giving me advice and communication throughout the year and really helped with decisions and advice from the start of my application process and journey. When at university I would be thrilled to continue using Zero Gravity and even become a mentor to others! The experiences have been fantastic and even communicating with like-minded people of the same age as me on the community feature has been so lovely! I can't wait to pursue my passions at university and stay on the Zero Gravity platform.

Fun weekly calls & opportunities

I love the weekly calls with my mentor who's a current undergraduate as they really get me since they were also in my shoes once. The calls are engaging and fun and I look forward to updating my mentor on my success and goals and they really try to make it possible and help wherever they can. The Zero Gravity team also sends really useful weekly opportunity emails which are crucial for development professionally as you expand your network and go to events and broaden your horizons. I definitely would recommend!

Finding the right path for me.

When I first joined Zero Gravity I aspired to go to Oxford University. However, at the start of year 13, this changed and I now had my eyes set on the University of Bath. Although I had been practising Oxford entrance exams for months, my mentor (Joe Seddon) was very supportive of me and helped me take the right steps to my change in path. I was also lucky enough to spend a week in the Zero Gravity Office. This was a very enriching experience as I got to gain experience working on social media projects and the Zero Gravity podcast. My meetings with Joe helped me gain a large variety of different skills both educational and also career-based such as networking skills. Above all, my time with Joe has helped me to see more clearly the vision I have for my future in politics.

The best platform for support

Zero Gravity was key for me realizing my dream of attending university and supported me throughout the whole application process. The platform has also led to my grades improving from the masterclass sessions, allowing me to choose from a greater range of universities. Because of my mentor's confidence in me, I was able to reach the interview stage of applying to Oxford. While I may not have been accepted, the experience enhanced my skills and deepened my love for Chemistry. My mentor guided me from crafting my personal statement to conducting mock interviews, boosting my confidence. Without this platform, the idea of pursuing higher education, let alone applying to Oxford, would never have been possible. The community has also allowed me to connect with like-minded people and have found some friends for life through there.

Zero Gravity has a great mentoring program

I feel as though with each Zero Gravity session with my mentor I was able to gain more confidence in the different revision strategies I could use in my Psychology A level course. I felt the support was beneficial and I was able to ask questions and receive in depth feedback and responses from my mentor. She encouraged me a lot and gave me a level of understanding and confidence within my A level course.
