Very helpful
I’m currently studying Biology, Chemistry and French and am just starting my exams and will hopefully be studying medicine at the University of Sheffield later this year. Since the start of Y12, I have found Zero Gravity to be an incredibly useful tool in my application. The community is supportive and encouraging and my mentor has been so helpful with the application process especially with writing my personal statement and preparing for the UCAT exam and interviews.
I am a student from east London…
I am a student from east London studying Maths, Further Maths, Sociology and Business. I will be starting a degree in Economics in autumn. When I joined year 12 l was unsure what career to pursue, however through the use of Zero Gravity’s masterclasses I was able to narrow my career goals to banking. The community fostered in Zero Gravity has also incredibly helpful through spaces. I was able to see how others approached personal statements and subjects which inspired my own decisions. Specifically to economics, I found relief in my ability to do it at university without doing it at A level. I unfortunately joined too late in year 12 to receive a mentor and my mentor in year 13 had stopped replying after a few months of communication. However, in the future I look forward to becoming a mentor myself to ensure more students get consistent mentoring.
Overall smashing experience
The whole system was great, it helped me to connect to a student who was able to answer my question and help me get the uni placement I wanted
Incredibly helpful!!
Incredibly helpful, especially for those less informed about the systems for applying to Uni, or the specifics with applying to Russel group unis. They have helped me get an offer from my dream uni, and my mentor, James, was remarkably helpful.
Really helpful when preparing for…
Really helpful when preparing for admissions test and put a lot of time and effort into helping me with my personal statement
Zero Gravity
I am a student aspiring to work in Finance after university. I have applied to study Economics to gain a deeper understanding of the subject and gain the qualities needed to succeed in this industry. Outside of academics, I am a member of the school Hindu Sikh Jain, Buddhist Society where I have the role of Vice President. My mentor has helped me significantly with writing my personal statement by helping me structure my experiences and opinions in a well-presented way as well as providing advice about university, such as talking about societies and how to make the most of university for the future. Being a friendly person, he was very easy to talk to openly, which created an environment allowing me to have a positive and productive experience. He has also helped me understand difficult areas of my A-Level Economics course by explaining them in a more comprehensible way.
Zero Gravity Experience
I aspire to express my passion for justice and it will be a key pinnacle to becoming an active and reformative member in the field of legal scholars. Zero Gravity has been an enriching source for my passion and discovery regarding the Law and how it developed. Thanks to Ellie, in mentoring sessions, while preparing for interview-based scenarios, I realised that a degree in Law will provide me with more than an adept understanding of the legal systems in modern society. It will propel me to challenge, question, and even advocate to reform the justice system in widening access to justice. My UCAS experience at Zero Gravity has not only opened channels of curiosity for my future endeavours, but has inspired me to teach others what I have learned so far.
not perfect but still a great experience
The mentoring was really helpful since she went above and beyond to help me w/ my oxford interviews (and I got a place!!) and coming from a care experienced background it was nice to meet other people who are underrepresented. I did have quite a few issues at the beginning with mentors not responding so it might be good if they had a way to test the activity of mentors and remove them if they’re inactive and/or unresponsive and then this led to further chain issues when I was assigned a mentor who did my subject but had no experience of the interviews I needed the help with (as it took so long to get a responsive mentor that my personal statement had already been sent off) but overall I’d recommend that anyone (who meets the eligibility criteria - they’d do well to make it less opaque on the website as I know a few people who were rejected from the platform despite going to a U.K. state school) gives it a shot!! It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up online and even if the mentoring doesn’t necessarily work out in the way you hope, the community and the opportunities they advertise have been priceless :)
Zero Gravity Experience
I am hard-working, dedicated and driven, keen to succeed in my life goals. I want to develop myself through university and become a chartered engineer. As well as being academic, I am also a keen athlete, playing football and cricket, as well coaching young players, nurturing a new wave of prospective talent. My Zero Gravity experience has been positive. The mentor was extremely helpful and provided me with effective revision and coping strategies to deal with my exams, as well as directing me to useful additional resources. He encouraged me to be more open about my feelings and seek help when required. He also introduced me to Anki (a flashcard app) which allowed me to create my own cards and has helped me cement my recall of key terms and definitions where once I struggled. This was a vital tool which I will continue to use beyond my A-levels.
What an amazing opportunity!
I am an aspiring Clinical Scientist and would like to specialise in either Genetics or Embryology. I’ve always been keen on learning more about how the human body functions. It has been an amazing opportunity to be a part of the Zero Gravity community as I’ve been provided with endless support, through the public platform and from my mentor. From attending the masterclasses and having sessions with my mentor, I gained confidence not only when applying for universities but also with my exams. I would like to thank my mentor for giving me the courage and support to apply to a Top 10 global university which I thought I would never get accepted to but received and offer from. I am extremely grateful for the support I have received. I hope many other students get to experience this too!
