So after reading the reviews I went ahead and brought a check on a car I found on AutoTrader. I want to do the checks in advance so I don't have to waste time going out to cars to find out there's a problem. Turns out I now need to get my hands on the V5 doc and get the VIN number before the check is guaranteed but I can't find the app so that I can easily go to the car and update the details, instead I have to carry around the 10 digit reference number and then go onto the website on my phone. I'm sure it will work out fine but in a modern, easy to use world, really you need to have apps for this sort of thing.

Easy to use and essential when buying a new car

Very easy and simple to use. You get the result almost immediately. Any hidden history is displayed with loads of info like: Who the outstanding finance is with, the contact number for that institution and all other usefull info about the car's past. Great!

Excellent system but in this case flagged erroneous information regarding outstanding finance on another vehicle bearing a registration plae which was originally fitted to the vehicle being checked and which is now fitted to the other vehicle following a DVLA official change of registrattion Although DVLA V5C is already in my possesion as issued by DVLA the HPI check systerm has inecxplicably queried the date of the document ?
