Where there's a Will there's a way and Which?Wills is the way.

I purchased Which?Wills willwriting package and was pleasantly surprised just how easy it was to use. Simple and straightforward instructions with phone support if required gave me peace of mind in its completion. Very handy software at a reasonable price.

Lasting Power of Attorney

Having looked around there are many companies offering a Lasting power of Attorney package. I chose Which? as they have a good reputation and also offered a review by their specialists. The actual process on their website is very straightforward. You are prompted on-screen by a series of questions which then generates the correct form(s) in the correct format.I would recommend using them over a solicitor as you can pay £700 upwards for what is essentially just filling a form in with names and addresses. You will need someone to certify the document(s), they have to have known the donor for at least 2 years. I used my mother's doctor who charged £45 for signing the forms. I also created 4 copies (all to be signed) so that I could send on to any official body as evidence, e.g. bank or building society. One copy is then sent to the OPG for registration which apparently takes 2-3 months. Not sure why!

Peace of Mind

Very happy with the process and service. My wife and I wanted to have a base document that would potentially evolve but be an expression of our wishes in the meantime. We had no will prior to this and we now have peace of mind.

Warning to people in Scotland who should FIRST find someone who will sign POA…

People in Scotland should FIRST identify a GP or Solicitor who will be willing to sign the POA. We purchased two POAs but have been unable to to get them signed. Our GP doesn't offer the facility to sign them and we haven't yet found a Solicitor willing to sign POAs written by someone else. This difficulty wasn't made clear on the Which website. We didn't foresee or imagine having this difficulty. Our complaint to Which has fallen on deaf ears with a "you pays your money, you made your choice" attitude which has not impressed us.

The form is so easy to use

The form is so easy to use. A person can take as long as they wish to complete the form and if a section has not been completed, this is shown up during the writing of the will. I would definitely recommend people to use it.

Simple to use

The service was very quick and efficient. The legal team made some comments on the first draft which I was then able to look at again and make any changes. The printed bound copy arrived within a couple of days of resubmitting the Will. Would highly recommend using Which.
