Called and described the three issues that I would like looking at on the phone. Engineer came and quoted £890+VAT to change toilet flush button, bleed radiator and plumb in dishwasher. Far more than expected on toilet and dishwasher so refused the quote. Was told that the engineer could not bleed the radiator as part of the initial call out fee as this was not classed as a 'tightening or adjusting' repair. If this is not classed as a basic repair then I am confused as to what would be. They could not answer. I was sent an invoice for the call out fee immediately and this was followed up with a call to say that engineer could not leave my premises until this was paid. All very threatening and I was not informed of this policy prior to scheduling the call out as otherwise I would not have booked a call out. I do not want to have to pay an extortionate fee for a random man to leave my premises again in the future.

I called them in error, my fault. They diagnosed a broken condensate pipe £395 to replace. So I complained that it was just blocked, so suddenly it was just £245, so I sent them away and wasted money on a cancelled callout fee. Glowarm came round, confirmed condensate pipe was OK, unblocked pipe for no charge. Serviced boiler for £95. So always question what is being asked of you to pay for. These visits can be an opportunity for job 'uplift'

Not a straightforward problem but fitter worked methodically and found a solution in a timely manner with minimum fuss and disruption.
