I had called early as I am not ready to go just yet. I need to finish my divorce but he took the time to explain the process and timing to me.

Unprofessional, scare tactics, and rude

The most bizzare and rude encounter with UIS. Unprofessional, scare tactics for payments. After some research also realised they are not a IEC Recognized Organization. The Account Manager "T" rang me, asked a few questions about my current job, salary, age, and savings, then said I seemed eligible for a visa. Then asked, are you ready to begin the process, I said sure, we then chatted for a further 5 minutes about the process and what happens next. She then asks me to check my email, click on the link, which has a request to pay over $500AUD on the spot. I said to her I didnt have my bank card on me to pay as I wasnt aware the initial call would require payment up front. She asked me to look on my phone for a photo of my bank card or Apple Pay, I told her that I don't keep photos of my bank cards, and my credit card was not on apple pay. It was at this point the Account Manager flipped personalities, it was like dealing with a different person. She was rude, had an attitude, and was belittling me to pressure me into payment. I explained to her that I didnt expect to make payment on an initial call, she replied something along the lines of "this isnt an initial call, you've applied to come to Canada, I don't need a visa i'm already here, so that's why when I asked you at the start if you were actually ready you should of been honest" I hit back and said that this WAS an initial call, it's the first time I am talking with UIS, so regardless of what she considers initial contact this phone call was the first point of contact with me. I told her if she had started the call 20 minutes ago with the expectation that payment would be reqired on an initial call I would of told her I was not home and did not have my card on me. "Do you want to tell me what the real problem is" came next, and it was at this point I no longer wanted to deal with this company any longer. She then tried scare tactics with the following comments: "We work with the government, and if you don't complete payment now for me to lodge your eligibility this will be your one and only chance to put an application through" Despicable and embarassing behaviour. I ended the phone call after telling her I was not enjoyng this consultation and no longer interested and she literally hung up on me. So unprofessional.

Ideal for those looking to travel alone.

I found the UIS Canada team to be an incredibly helpful bunch who made the visa application process almost eerily smooth. They delineated the details of the operation in simple, clear language and always responded promptly to my queries. Ideal for those who've been yearning to do something bold with their lives but who don't quite know where to start. Shoutout to Josh Stone in particular.

Amazing service and information provided

So I was on the phone with Pamela, she did extremely well explaining to me how everything works, the timeframe of how long it would take for me to see if I qualify, what Canada is about the country itself, I did let her know that I have been there once to visit and you know it was a long time ago however, it’s something that I’ll never forget. And she was just incredibly helpful. She gets five stars from me.

Even though I had contacted the wrong department about how to apply for a visa/eTA - Mathew was very helpful and pleasure to talk too. He confirmed I require an eTA.
