Stay far away from Cruise.com

I booked Alaska cruise on 7/28/2019 with Cruise.com. Big Mistake! I advise to stay far AWAY form this company! In July, cruise.com listed bonus offers online, but they won’t honor. Based on their available offers, my Alaska Cruise (Holland America Line, Oosterdam, 8/18/2019 to 8/25/2019) was selected to “Receive free gratuities” (book a Balcony or higher). I booked a Balcony, but didn’t get the bonus. To deal with their customer support was very annoying, a bunch of hassle! Even after that I sent the agent a copy of the screen shot for the offers on their website in July, she still denied the offer. Unimaginable! Most unprofessional agent I have ever talked to! Finally her supervisor confirmed the offer but didn’t want to honor and said “You didn’t ask an agent to book.” I didn’t understand the difference between “I book online by myself” and “ask an agent to book” until I read one of the “One star reviews” for Cruise.com written by L of Englewood, posted on June 26, 2019 (Google). The author asked an agent to book and overpaid $300, compared with the price online. This is the trick that Cruise.com planned to cheat customers. They charge you $300 more and then may give you $200 to pay the gratuities. That is the “Bonus Offer” from Cruise.com. Don’t trust their website. Do NOT use this company to book any Cruise!

Let me add to the course of complaints…

Let me add to the course of complaints about this company. I was just disconnected after being on hold waiting for a supervisor to answer a question. The original agent I was talking to, Tony, told me that when there is an offer of an onboard credit based on the "total price of the cruise" it is only calculated based on ONE PASSENGER'S FARE and not the total for the cabin. NO WHERE does it say that even in the fine print of the promotion! That constitutes a SCAM in my opinion, a bait and switch that you don't find out about until AFTER you book the cruise! PLEASE - if you are going to book a cruise online....try another agency that is more transparent such as Expedia.

DO NOT USE CRUISE.COM...IT'LL SAVE YOU AGGRAVATION

ALTHOUGH THE BOOKING PROCESS EASY ENOUGH, HOWEVER, DEALING WITH THEIR PEOPLE ON THE PHONE IS HORRIFIC -- AND THIS IS AFTER WAITING ON THE PHONE FOR 30 MINS. THEN, YOU GET SOME HOUSEWIFE IN THEIR HOMES, DEALING WITH THEIR KIDS WHILE TALKING TO YOU. THE FIRST ONE PROMISED TO SEND ME A CONFIRMATION EMAIL (WHICH i NEVER RECEIVED)... THE SECOND ONE, REFUSED TO SEND IT TO ME, AND GOT SHORT & NASTY WITH ME. SHE WAS ONE OF THE WORST CUSTOMER REPS I'VE EVER DEALT WITH ON THE IN MY LIFE. SHE HAS NO BUSINESS BEING IN THIS FIELD, NEEDLESS TO SAY, I PAID FOR A CERTAIN UPGRADED PACKAGE, AND I HAVE NO PROOF THAT I DID. AFTER NUMEROUS EMAILS, I KEEP GETTING SENT AN INVOICE WITHOUT THAT PACKAGE (WHICH I PAID FOR, LISTED). ALL IN ALL, IT'S NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE -- I SHOULD HAVE BOOKED DIRECTLY WITH THE CRUISE LINE WHICH WAS ONLY $100 MORE. LESSON LEARNED.

Just Don't.

I recently booked two cruises, back-to-back, for October of this year. We are experienced cruisers but had never used Cruise.com before. Choosing this company due to the OBC offered, I found the booking process to be easy enough, with our reservations showing up on the cruise line's website shortly after the cruise.com transaction (a very good sign!). I had a question about the cruise line's own perks and spoke with a Cruise.com rep (after waiting 40 minutes on hold)...who hung up on me while she was supposedly contacting the cruise line for info. I then emailed the question to customer service and received a response the next day. I ended up calling this person, who turned out to be in the promotions dept, and found her to be very helpful and friendly. A few days later, I needed assistance with a flight issue and tried calling again, using their "we'll call you back when an agent becomes available" system...no return call received. So I emailed again, with a detailed explanation of my problem....no return email this time (it's been over a week). I'm currently sitting here waiting for another call back, after waiting on the line for half an hour. Obviously, this is NOT the company to book through if you need customer service. The staff seem nice enough when you finally do connect, but it's not worth the aggravation. I won't use them again.

No problems :)

Booked my first cruise about 1,5 years ago. I am an European customer an and had a Suite with Costa Cruise, rates are great compare to Europe, saved about 500USD Per Person. Right now i am in an booking process for a MSC cruise. Booked a Yacht Club deluxe suite. Booking process is easy and friendly. Just received an e-mail... “ MSC will not allow any international guests booked through U.S. agencies to pre-register for their cruise on line“ and ik the same e-mail “ Registration must be completed at least 24 hours prior to your sail date“. That’s strange... but we will see.

Good customer service.

Booked a Panama Canal cruise and we had a great time. upon our return I discovered that I did not receive my shipboard credit. I phoned on May 8th 2019 and i spoke to Eddie. After a brief chat Eddie agreed that i never received my credit and he stated that i would receive a check in 6 to 8 weeks. I received my check in 5 weeks.

Avoid this company

Sorry to write one more bad review. I recommend to avoid this company! We're selected and paid for cabin with good view. 3 month later cruise.com /MSC replaced it for worst one in same category without notice. The company also not helped to buy shuttle from/to ship. We've called cruise.com from the ship and they said that all rooms are sold out and there is nothing to do with that.

Poor Communication- Greedy Company

I should’ve looked online and read the reviews before I book this cruise vacation . I always wanted to visit Cuba and I went online and I thought I was getting a great deal end of the day I am paying more money. I was not advised that I had to pay more money for visas to visit Cuba and if I didn’t buy a tour I would not be able to disembark the ship. I told the agent I was taking the cruise because it was my girlfriend’s birthday and they never put that in the system if I did not call the cruise line I would’ve had more problems. Terrible service , poor communication and wish I never booked with this company

Beware, you won't get all the perks on the website.

Their website clearly stated balconies and above would receive prepaid gratuities. This was the only thing that made their offer better than their competitors. On the cruise, daily gratuities were not prepaid. I called customer service, and after an hour long wait, was told sorry, it's not on your invoice, nothing we can do. Agent flat out admitted she did not care if I took my business elsewhere in the future. I had taken a screenshot from the website showing the prepaid gratuities at the time I booked, and sent this to their customer support address. Was told, no, you didn't qualify for that promotion, despite my screenshot showing that I did. While they do seem to offer the best deals IF you get all the advertised perks (and that's a big IF) the apathy of their customer service rivals the local cable company. But unlike the cable company, there are PLENTY of other companies to book cruises through.
