This is my second SoilFixer purchase. A couple of years ago I bought a biochar sample to help keep the smell down in my kitchen compost bin, and it worked- additionally, it improved my outdoor composting bin. I’ve been adding another scoop to the Dalek-style bin and the compost coming out of the bottom of the bin has improved greatly. Prompt and well packaged delivery from them, and I really appreciate the science backed uses they have outlined all over their website. Improve your soil AND sequester carbon? Why wouldn’t you use it? Thanks, SoilFixer, for making my sticky clay coastal garden a workable and productive space.

Fast service, very helpful and knowledgeable when I called. Got the Mega 700l and tried it out by emptying my dormant Dalek bins and mixing with the Humification Agent. I refilled one Dalek as a control and put the rest in the HOTBIN. I did not expect much as the outside temperature stayed below 6 degrees but six days later the hot bin was 55 degrees and the Dalek still stone cold. I am a very happy gardener, hot composting has never been so easy.

The hotbins [one x 200litres plus one x mega] are not cheap but they do work so much better than any other composting bins I have made or bought. [Hence the purchase of a mega to go with the 200litre model] The smaller is good for adding kitchen waste and small quantities, as the lid hinges upwards. The mega requires the large lid to be removed, which could be difficult for a person with shorter arms. It is great for mowings ans garden shreddings. It is much easier to mix in shredded paper in the mega, and its thicker walls retain the heat better, judging by the temperature drop caused by a heavy rain storm. I have yet to extract ant compost, so cannot comment on its quality. I only gave 4 stars because of confusion within the dispatch system, and muddling emails which indicated that there two deliveries sent by parcelforce, which turned out to be one delayed delivery. There were no DPD tracking links for the main parcels, and no indication that they were involved at all. The 3 very large boxes arrived with only an hours notice by DPD, whilst I was out, with no delivery instructions on any of the boxes, to the annoyance of my neighbours who were asked to take them in. The boxes filled their hallway! Hopefully hotbins e-mails will be clearer in the future and delivery instructions will be added to parcels by both dispatch centres.
