Membership refund

I would like to add to my previous review that the company reached out and settled this matter. Thank you Varsity Tutors. This company has been charging my credit card for over a year for a membership that has not been used. My son used 1 tutor session! His membership was put on a 2 month hold. Without notifying me the company restarted automatic withdraws for over a year!! How can the billing dept. see a year of payment with NO SERVICES RENDERED? So, your membership requires written notice of cancellation but no notification to the payer that you are going to restart withdrawing $$. The amount of $$ you have taken for no services rendered could have paid for my son's last semester of school!! After reading several reviews of your company I see you have done this to many customers. So unethical and fraudulent! I would like a copy of all charges withdrawn from my account from start date please?

It was imperative that my son receive the tutoring that he desperately needs and deserves. Unfortunately, Varsity tutors have not meet our needs. It has been very inconsistent

WILL CHARGE YOUR CARD MONTHS AFTER DONE WITH TUTORING

do not, do not, DO NOT, sign up for varsity tutors. it is NOT worth your time, and they will continue to charge your credit card for MONTHS after ending your tutoring if you're not careful, with their vague and sneaky cancellation policy. I signed up for their tutoring/online classes MCAT package in July 2024, and on the phone at the time I agreed to THREE MONTHS of tutoring - from July to September 2024, when I took my MCAT. Their resources are mediocre, they treat their employees/tutors like garbage which is reflected in their sessions, and I had even CALLED THEM in the MIDDLE OF MY TERM about cancellation, upon which the representative told me I could not cancel then but that my subscription would not be renewed after September. After that I assumed that my subscription would expire by itself, as I had been led to believe. WRONG. ABSOLUTELY WRONG. they continued to charge me $883 A MONTH, EVERY MONTH, FROM SEPT - JAN 2025. That's $3,544 DOWN THE DRAIN, STOLEN. They had only "promised" to refund ONLY HALF OF THAT after going through a process with them, and the representative I spoke to today told me she was SURPRISED that I had even been refunded THAT much. To summarize, their services are a horrendous waste of time, and they WILL steal your money from you long after you're done with them. ******EDIT 01/23/2025****** We managed to get our money back in full - but it was a HASSLE. We called and called and emailed and emailed over and over and over and presented our evidence, and each time we were told that a refund was not guaranteed, that they "honored us" because of our situation to only throw half our money back in our face - that is, until we got our bank involved, disputed the charges, and even cancelled our credit card. So if this happens/has happened to you, you can get your money back, if you're willing to go through all that. I still would never recommend VarsityTutors to anyone, ever.

An expensive mess

Signed up for a tutor for my 14 year old daughter, and the experience has been nothing but an expensive mess. Starting with scheduling issues immediately, double booking, multiple tutors, time changes and mix ups. They pitched all these resources available to my daughter, but once we signed up there was no onboarding to show what was available. Turns out there wasn't much offered anyway. I have nothing bad to say about the tutors themselves. But the management and the way this company is run is a rip-off.

My son felt she was not versed on the subject. He said she seemed confused at times. He also does not feel ready for his test because of that.
