Bought an emerald from Gempundit recently. Let me warn others of this horrible business... I had the worst experience of online shopping I've ever had, period. (Scroll to the bottom and skip the review if you just want to see the side-by-side comparison picture) 1. The process of negotiating the price with a representative named Neel was enough to make me reconsider buying the gem 3 or 4 times. He used negotiating tactics of wearing down the buyer. It was so frustrating to have him not respond to my comments and concerns and filibuster me with some irrelevant details. He would make me read long long messages explaining their pricing and quality, which were all things I was already aware of. He really tested my patience time and time again and I ended up having to repeatedly type in capital letters because of my frustration with him. He was most likely just pasting scripts into our conversation. All business and looking to make a profit. Tbh, worse than no human warm. It was straight out infuriating talking to him. Imagine someone that is supposed to be there to serve you, ending up infuriating you because they are not listening to you, and forcing you to read the things that they are copying and pasting, just so they can wear down your patience. That's GemPundit. 2. When I received the item, the color of the emerald was starkly different from the pictures and videos they posted. Quite frankly, this was false advertising and misrepresentation. The color of the gem was clearly an unattractive blue green which is the color of many cheaper Zambian emeralds, whereas all the pictures and videos showed it being more of an apple/yellow green which made it look more like a Brazilian or even a Colombian emerald. The color which is one of the 4C's which we use to evaluate the cost of gems was grossly misrepresented. To make things worst, there was no brilliance in the stone either. I wanted to return it after taking one look at it. It was the same stone, they had just manipulated the lighting and perhaps even done some post-editing on the pictures and videos to make the stone appear to be a more desirable color. 3. The return process was insane. I've never had a more difficult return full of page after page of paperwork that had to be filled out. I had to pay import fees and pay for the shipping fee back, so I lost around $250 on a $2500 purchase. There was no return label, no forms that were partially filled out. There was no step by step process. They just gave me a few pieces of information I would need and I was on my own to figure out that I needed 5 different forms and had to go to UPS twice, plus call them on the phone once, just to figure out the correct protocol to sending the gem back to where it came from, India. 4. They received my return a week ago, and told me I would receive a refund within 3-4 business days. Obviously, I still haven't received my refund, even though I was supposed to by now. (UPDATE: It has been a full 12 days since they received my return and I was fearing never seeing that money again, so I opened a case through Paypal. I got my refund within 24 hours of taking this action...) It blows my mind how such a big website (seemingly established) could have such bad business practices. Every step of the process of buying and then returning was really just so difficult, unpleasant and even horrible. Honestly, they are the WORST online vendor I've ever bought from. WILL NEVER EVER EVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN.
