Would not exchange a wedding ring for…

Would not exchange a wedding ring for me, I'm now less than a month before my wedding and ring-less, and £360 down. I understand they have a 14 day returns window - what good is this when people buy wedding rings literally months or years in advance? I have a health condition that has resulted in some swelling in my joints, I could never have known this at time of purchase.. The ring has been in its box for 12 months and is as new, there is literally zero reason they could not re-sell it and give me a size up. I originally went to flinn & steel as I wanted a local (sheffield) based independent company as I've always thought that's where the best customer service lies, guess not.

Nice ring but less than average company

I do like my wedding ring. I ordered the Hammered effect Tantalum wedding ring. It looks different from a standard mens wedding ring which I liked. However ordering it and having it adjusted was a nightmare. They provided cheap thin ring sizers at the start which are useless when you are ordering a wide mens wedding ring. I doubled checked in a local jewellery store my ring size and it was different from the ones they supplied. However I asked for advise from Flinn and steel and they said as long as the ring sizer fits comfortably they would recommend using that size as that is accurate to their rings. I had the ring engraved and understood it could not be returned and exchanged if it was the wrong size. I was very concerned by this but I did not have a lot of time left before my wedding so continued with the order. The ring arrives and it was too small. It was cutting off the circulation to my finger. I asked for them to resize it and they said they don't offer that service. I said I was willing to pay whatever it cost to have it done by their craftsman and they still would not help. They did not offer any local jewellers that could do the service on their behalf either. All they said is that I could have a small discount off a new ring. As other reviews had suggested, I believe that they do not make their own rings but purely buy them in cheap from China and possible have thek laser engraved engraved in the uk. Very disappointed in their customer service and the quality of the product. It is advertised as Sheffield made and hand crafted but they are cheap mass produced rings unfortunately. Would not recommend. However I would highly recommend Anthony Alferev. He is a true craftsman and had my ring resized in a couple of days. He offers similar rings that are truly hand made to order. 5 stars to him!

Cheap rings marked up

We ordered our wedding rings based on the advertising and wording implying they are made in Sheffield, but after looking into it they're just cheap rings ordered online and marked up in price - I found the same ring I ordered for anything between £20-40 online. The only work done on these rings appears to be the laser engraving, hence they do not resize rings - they don't make them. We never saw a workshop or anything of the sort, just were invited to a showroom where a man implied every ring was fantastic and then started asking us to follow him on instagram for his other business, so we left suspicious. We were also told rings actually made from Sheffield Steel would cost 6 times the price - they do not. They do a good job hiding the fact but the more I looked into it the more I felt deceived so we cancelled our order. We did find a place which made rings of Sheffield Steel, and made them locally. The cost was exactly the same if not cheaper.

Classic wedding band and great service

I'd been on the look out for a wedding band and kept seeing the "manly" options out there. I wasn't looking for batman, superman, marvel, dinosaur bone or meteorite rings, but rather a classic looking non-precious metal ring. Thankfully the algorithms in Instagram aligned and advertised Flinn and Steel. They had a number of options to choose from and in the end I went with the Tantalum in a matt/satin finish with engraving. I received the ring sizer and after reaching out to the customer service to hold off engraving, I received the ring to try on and it fit perfectly. The team were further accommodating allowing me to send through a new request for engraving. Within 5 days of sending the ring back to Flinn and Steel, I received the engraved ring back and couldn't have been happier. Many thanks to all at Flinn and Steel for an effortless experience and a great end result. Looking forward to wearing my wedding band in the next month and a half.
