Beware of seven seas and hidden fees

Be very careful when getting a quote and committing. I got stung an additional $300 for this companies "customs handling" fees despite me doing 99% of the documentation (there was no fees from customs itself) It was not made apparent on the website when quoting and was buried deep in the email that was sent for the quote in small text. This was more then the delivery itself and they essentially did next to nothing for this money. If it was $50 ok fine but $300 .... robbery! They essentially held my boxes hostage till this was paid! UPDATE: Once again this was hidden in small text deep inside the quote they emailed you. They mislead you into believing the quote on their website is what you will be charged. When I called to complain about this extra fee they had no interest in coming to a fairer agreement and threatened to send my boxes back to Australia if I didn't pay. Be warned there in it only to rip you off!

Mixed experience

All of our things made it safely from Canada to New Zealand and we were able to see the progress of the shipment as it travelled. The Canadian moving team were great, really helpful and communicative. The New Zealand team was a bit less friendly and helpful but unloaded quickly without incident. Communicating with Seven Seas themselves was infuriating. I was on hold for long periods of time every time I called them and their manner was patronising and not very helpful. I didn't think the process was made particularly clear and it didn't seem like they cared. When you're shipping things that clearly mean a lot to you because you wouldn't spend so much money otherwise, you want to feel as if you're in safe hands and I can't say I did. I probably would explore other options before using Seven Seas again, but our belongings arrived undamaged and that's the most important thing.

Seven Seas: the employees are great, our stuff arrived in good condition.

The Seven Seas customer online system is not intuitive and it was sometimes challenging to navigate the inventory and other forms and to figure out how and what to do certain things, however, after calling for support whenever we got stuck, the people working at Seven Seas were very helpful. All the employees from the first call for information through to the delivery driver at the end were very helpful and we got all our stuff transported across the world in good condition thanks to Seven Seas. We would use them again, and recommend!
