Amazing experience

I discovered this program in an outreach event where decided to sign up. Shonit was assigned as my mentor and has helped me immensely and has made my Zero Gravity experience so wonderful that I confidently recommend this program to all my friends. My tutor acted as both a prep coach and a friend as he both pointed me to the right resources and tried to calm my nerves whenever they got the best of me. Throughout many ENGAA past papers and mock interviews, we were able to get me to the level required for the offer, and I am so thankful for him. The platform has helped me to feel less isolated and connect with other students who also share my high aspirations (especially when I am lost with no answers to my questions) and has made me feel part of a truly wonderful community of amazing people.

How zero gravity helped me.

I am extremely ambitious in perusing a career in Dental Hygiene and Therapy, to which I have worked endlessly day in and day out to achieve. From attending frequent charity events to spreading motivational messages to a crowd of thousands of people, I have been very eager to attain this degree level course. I have enjoyed my time with ZeroGravity, from their constant emails to keep me informed of any weekly updates, to having continuous calls with my mentor. Not only did my mentor help me choose my dream course but also inspired me to want to give back to ZeroGravity in the future. My mentor helped me build my personal statement and become confident in my application.

My experience at Zero Gravity :)

After GCSEs, I was unsure of what I wanted to pursue but I had some rough ideas of what I would like to delve into. This platform helped in solidifying my pursuit for Computer Science. I found multiple masterclasses which were helpful for the subjects I was studying, I helped others where I could by replying to comments and sharing files as well as receiving good advice from my peers and university students. After I requested a mentor, I thought it would be a while before I got one but luckily I was matched the day after! She’s incredibly helpful as she would give me advice whether it was about university as a whole, the course or even our specific A level subjects and coursework! Being able to talk to someone in a position I had hoped to be and from a similar background gave me more hope when applying!

Zero Gravity has been a life changing…

Zero Gravity has been a life changing opportunity for me, growing up in deprivation ZG has allowed me to have an equal chance as I pursue my dreams to become a doctor. My mentor, a Cambridge Medic, has guided me through every aspect of the application process, being my beacon of support for these past 2 years, from gaining relevant work experience to perfecting my personal statement. Their insights on the UCAT exams have been extremely helpful, and one of the sole reasons I have achieved one of the highest scores in the entirety of the UK. The mock interviews sessions we practiced have not only help with my Uni application but have given me life lessons improving my communication skills and confidence, something I will carry with me forward my entire life. This mentorship programme has not only prepared me for the application process but has also given me a clearer vision of my future in medicine.

Very helpful and effective

I have a main drive in the field of mechatronics however, I widely enjoy language acquisition, humanities and performing arts. Having my Zero Gravity mentor, Lam, has helped me create a plan and schedules to stay grounded in my academic and career life whilst looking at how I may balance my additional desires. In addition, we had multiple conversations regarding Oxbridge whilst I was looking at applying. Unfortunately, due to my caring responsibilities, I was not able to focus enough on my studies, leaving me unable to achieve the predicted grades needed. On the brighter side, those hours of conversations have not gone in vain; shall I choose to reapply in the future, I have a lot of advice which is reusable. My advice was adapted to staying realistic whilst being ambitious as well as helping me with my Maths and Physics, verbally explaining concepts I was lacking on.

My Zero Gravity Experience

I'm a budding computer scientist that initially enrolled with Zero Gravity to support my Cambridge application. My mentor was really friendly and engaging throughout the process and helped to boost my self-confidence and addressed many of my anxieties. While this was not successful, I am still very excited to potentially complete a CS degree with a year in industry at Bath. I am autistic and experience high levels of anxiety, which has limited my ability to engage with education in the past, so I was slightly worried about how I would be received by my mentor when I first joined the platform. However, my concerns were completely unfounded as my mentor was incredibly understanding and welcoming from the beginning. The overall experience has been incredibly positive and has encouraged me to tackle further challenges.

History application

My experience with Zero Gravity has been incredibly enriching. I had the privilege of being mentored by an Oxford history student who provided invaluable guidance on my personal statement, which I believe carried my application and is the main reason behind my 5/5 offers. Her expertise and insights not only helped me refine my writing but also boosted my confidence in presenting my academic ambitions. She helped me mould my personal statement around my interests and create a personal statement that was unique. I am grateful for the clarity and focus that Zero Gravity and my mentor specifically have brought to my university preparation process.

so useful

Hello! I'm Lily and I'm a student interested in history and politics with the intention to work in either international relations or law. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and journaling. I learnt about Zero Gravity through social media and immediately applied. It has been the most impactful decision I have made to aid my university application. My mentor Fatima's advice has been integral to my progress, particularly in helping me to understand what makes a compelling personal statement and how to navigate the interview process. Through our calls, I have developed better articulation around my subject areas and a coherent comprehension of university life from module content to social activities. I would love to become a mentor in the future and provide a similar level of support to an applicant.

Life changing

As an autistic girl I was so unsure about even applying to uni. I didn’t believe in myself or my abilities, and was worried I wouldn’t be able to cope with the process on my own. However, my mentor really helped me to flourish and allowed me to play to my strengths both when writing my personal statement and doing interview prep. Thanks to the platform I am so much more confident in my own skills and abilities and am now going to follow my passion of History at Oxford in October:) it was so lovely to have someone to turn to during this process, both my mentor and the forums. I felt so supported which was my biggest worry with the application. It’s a lovely community and I truly believe signing up changed my life for the better.
