My Zero gravity experience

_I am someone who has chosen to do Natural Sciences at uni because I found the links that emerge my subjects compelling and as a result I felt that I didn’t want to specialise in just one field. I found Zero gravity by chance to be able to increase my chances of successfully getting into my first choice uni and obtain guidance from someone who’s already been through the process. My mentor has helped me become more familiar with how uni life would be like and i am feeling excited for the next stage. I have learnt about the different societies that universities offer, i have lessen my worries about making new friends and the experience of living alone doesn’t sound as bad now.

Maths!

My name is John, and I’m in Year 13. When my physics teacher unexpectedly left, Oliver from Zero Gravity guided me through self-teaching and improved my understanding. Oliver also helped with my entrance exam preparation, personal statement, and engaged me in discussions on scientific topics and his PhD studies. Regular sessions with Oliver strengthened my academic skills and boosted my confidence. Inspired by our discussions, I began tutoring mathematics at school and for family friends. He recommended the book “Alex’s Adventures in Numberland,” which sparked my interest in number theory. Oliver then introduced me to cryptography, further igniting my passion. Now, I aspire to join organizations like GCHQ.

I learnt a lot through Zero Gravity

I learnt a lot through Zero Gravity: the community is a great place to find people in a similar position as myself and it’s also gratifying to chip in where I can. The current students there provide really useful advice and I’ve taken a lot away from it. My mentor helped a lot with my personal statement and general physics tricks as well as developing my thinking. Another thing I took away from the sessions was what I could potentially be doing while at university and what uni life is like. It was nice to hear a first hand experience from someone who was in a similar position to where I will be soon.

Zero Gravity - so grateful!

Zero Gravity has been invaluable to me as I’m a first generation family member trying to navigate university applications. I’ve really appreciated the options available and being able to get advice from people either in the same position (which has been assuring) or from those who actually know what’s going on. My mentor was also such a vital part of my journey, critiquing and helping construct my personal statement to actually make it Cambridge worthy! So grateful.

Supported my dreams

Computer science, more specifically augmented reality has been a passion of mine since I was young. Zero Gravity has allowed me to join a like minded community where reading the posts of others within a similar field has allowed me to elevate my own knowledge and curiosity. My mentor supported me through assisting during the development of my personal statement which received a positive response from all my choices getting me to the next stage of the application process.

Incredibly useful for post 16 students

The way that Zero Gravity enables post 16 students to build their way towards a successful university application is something that you can't find anywhere else for free. The ability to connect with and learn from someone who's been in your exact situation is incredibly useful, and Zero Gravity does an excellent job of setting you up with that opportunity. The website itself is well designed and easy to navigate, the people you speak to are helpful and attentive, and the opportunities available in addition to the mentoring are targeted and valuable. I strongly recommend using Zero Gravity if you're aiming highly, and wish to better your chances of reaching your goals.

During year 12 I wanted a platform that allowed me to enhance my skills where It will be useful for both my personal statement and Uni life. So, I came across zero gravity online and I wanted to try it out. Sincerely, Zero Gravity has been the most helpful resource for me in terms of both expertise and assistance during the UCAS process. With the help of my mentors for my personal statement, I was able to receive offers from every university. In addition, I learnt more about my university degree by conducting online extracurricular studies and reporting back to my mentor.

Honestly one of the best things i experienced

I moved to the UK from Italy in 2020 and initially struggled to integrate into the British school system, especially understanding the university application process. Through Zero Gravity, I was paired with Ambareen, who provided invaluable guidance during my A levels. She gave me strategic advice on exam preparation and played a crucial role in finalizing my personal statement. Her support was instrumental in overcoming the challenges I faced, helping me navigate the new educational landscape and achieve my academic goals.

As an aspiring chemistry student

As an aspiring chemistry student, having support through a program like Zero Gravity has made a significant difference. The guidance from my mentor has been invaluable, especially as I'm the first generation in my family to attend university. My mentor assisted me in crafting a compelling personal statement so that I can highlight my passion for chemistry, and he also ensured that my application showcased my strengths and potentials. My mentor also gave me mock interviews in preparation for my Oxford interviews. This was really valuable as I got an almost preview of how it's like to be in an interview situation and of course on the way I got the opportunity to explore new things and explore ideas beyond my curriculum. Furthermore, being part of the zero gravity community has given me numerous benefits. Seeing the dedication and achievements of my peers was incredibly inspiring, encouraging me to strive for excellence in my own academic journey.
