Shipsurance is the most honorable and trustworthy company I've had the pleasure of being a part of. I have very few claims...but when I do, I know Shipsurance will process the claim quickly and without any games. I have had the opposite experience with USPS... they are so bad, I have begun insuring with Shipsurance even when a USPS package has insurance included. I'd give Shipsurance 10 stars if I could!
Shipsurance: Not really Insurance
Had a really bad experience with Shipsurance with a recent claim. The impression that I get is that they will try very hard to not honor a claim based on one of the many loopholes that they have. They advertise themselves as full-coverage insurance for your shipping needs, however, their coverage is very limited, and the fine print is extremely exclusive. They went as far as suggesting UPS damages packages on purpose. I'm extremely disappointed and hope this helps someone down the line avoid the same predicament. EDIT: Their response is just for show, I've been dealing with their claims department, they've denied the claim and the appeal.

Terrible. Love collecting premiums but good luck ever getting paid. DO NOT USE THEM. Self insure or use other insurance.
Bad Business Practices
They attempt in any way to not pay out to you. Horrible company. Would not recommend using them in any way shape or form.
Scam
Uses loopholes to avoid paying out. In my situation, the item was returned by the buyer because the ebay return window was closing. Because the buyer returned the goods before the claim was closed they refused to cover it. Id recommend choosing a different insurance provider.
Will pay no claims if you have branded packaging
Be aware that if you have branded boxes or tape, Shipsurance will pay no claims for loss OR damage. It's quite the convenient loophole for them, since almost all legitimate businesses of any size use branded packaging nowadays. USPS damaged a big international shipment, and Shipsurance wouldn't pay because we had sealed the box with tape that had the company name on it. In response to Shipsurance: To be fair, they did pay several claims in the past. But then they asked for photos of our external packaging, and that stopped. So my choice now is whether to continue to use branded packaging—which is roundly deemed necessary for consumer goods and companies building a brand—or change our packaging in hopes of having insurance that I paid for actually pay claims.

Good Insurance
I have never had a problem with shipsurance. We mail about 400 packages a month (which I always insure and have tracking on). EVERY claim I have filed was taken care of within 2 weeks time, or shorter. The claims were paid without a hassle.
